Not sure why I didn't check Yelp unless I was unable to find VoIPLy. I signed up in June 2020. I had issues from the start. While the Customer Service is really quick and appears helpful, the issues never ceased. I would have dropped calls and calls simply not coming through. I paid for a year and gave it 6 months. I really, really wanted to like VoIPLy but it was a nightmare. If I choose to have a home phone, I need to know that it will work 99.9% of the time. They initially tried to tell me it was my internet speed but I have fiber optic and I also have been working at home with zero-dropped WebEx calls and video. I would really like for them to refund 50% of my fees but I know that will never happen.

AVOID VoIPLy at ALL COSTS!

I switched to this company due to the cost of the service and the savings it was providing. First and foremost, let me say you get what you pay for. Your account is NOT secure with this company. I was given access to someone elses account without any verification whatsoever. I figured this out before they did, and let them know many changes were made to this other account. The supervisor did not seem to think it was a big deal that the agent, a team leader at that, bypassed a couple steps in protocol to give me this access. Not only is the customer service bad, but the phone service is not stable. There is a 2 second delay when answering all calls before the caller can hear you, which means youre constantly saying hello twice. You are also lucky if you can make it more than 4 minutes into a phone call without being disconnected due to the call dropping. This has happened consistently throughout the time needed to port my number back to my previous carrier. The phone options are limited as well. The deluxe phone is not worth the extra money. They also have a new portal that took away the option to change your hold music, so you must use their very loud and extremely unprofessional music, if you can even call it that. The very worst I have ever heard in my 20+ years of phone work. I would highly recommend you look elsewhere for VOIP phone service. It will be worth a little extra money to have secure and reliable service.

Chrome browser support only NO APPS, too easy to lose communications due to this.

So they claim to have Android, IOS, Windows, Mac support, in reality they have Chrome support. Their app ONLY works via an open browser window. Accidentally close the window and you have NO COMMUNICATIONS! There are also no Chrome extensions that currently work on their "new platform", which seems to have fewer working features than their old platform. Customer service is good and responds quickly, and the website is very slick, but the product is simply lacking. AVOID this service unless you want to be frustrated.

Worst service ever!!!!

I ordered new services with them and once I go the phone, it wouldn't work. When I called, after 5pm EST, got tranf to someone who couldn't speak English and kept on saying someone can call you back tomorrow b/c they are all gone. When you are small business, you can't wait till tomorrow to fix your system. I waited till tomorrow to call, according to them they open at 8am EST, when I called at 8:15am, still no one is there to help. Worst company ever to work with, DO NOT do business with them, their price might be cheap but if you have a problem you are out of luck.

Voiply Impressed me with their ordering process

I ordered Voiply service in January. Phones arrived plug and play ready as I configured them with their online checkout. Our office has POE switches, we plug the phones in got power. The phones rebooted a couple times. Chatting with a Voiply support specialist they confirmed this was the phones provisioning and all normal. Once the phones were provisioned we saw the names of the users on the phones. We had a simple call scenario with our 4 person office, made test calls, configured our voicemails. All worked as it should. Very impressed with how simple this setup was. Fill out everything online during checkout and your phones will come configured working as they should! Great job Voiply!

Stay away!

Run away! We have had nothing but trouble with VOIPLY since inception. We've had intermittent failures where calls won't get through and no voicemail has been recorded. We only found out because one of our patients told us that they had left numerous messages. We confirmed on their phone bill that they had called and spent time leaving messages for us, but none of these calls or voicemails made it through to our system. Repeated calls to VOIPLY customer service did not help. They tried to blame it on us. Finally, they randomly "changed the server" we were connected to which solved that problem. Now we have the problem where most of the time that we pick up the phone and dial out, the call won't go through. We have to try again. This is super annoying and massive time waster. VOIPLY still cannot fix this after numerous calls and emails to them. We are searching for reliable alternatives to this service. If you choose this company, your phone system may or may not function correctly, and you may very well NOT KNOW that it's not working! This is a recipe for disaster. SCARY!

Frist time ordered the service

my.voiply.com's database is not friendly to use, however, teach support was great helper. The help center in the my.voiply.com is good but the order of topic's helps are not logically easy to understand from step 1 to futher steps. There are some videos, but I wish if the service has a flowchart of overall how an incoming call goes thru the system with side by side pictures supporting the flowchart. Other, the online 1hr support is convinient but seeming not enough time to cover everything. Chat on screen is great help. I'm a new customer. I'm still not yet experiencing enough of all the good services of voiply, but I hope that I will expeerience more good of the service from voiply.com in the future. HL

I have had VoIPLy for my business for 3 years now and have no complaints. The quality of the phone system and service for the price that you pay is unbeatable. I am away from my office a good bit, so I use the find me/follow me feature a lot and it works perfectly. The system is easy to use and the service is excellent. Last but not least the customer service is always there when you need them and very helpful in every aspect

We've been using voiply since last year for phone solution. We have roughly 30 people working in the office and haven't run into any issues that couldn't easily and quickly be resolved. The biggest selling point for our switch was the price and how easy it was to get through the purchase and setup process. Once the phone came in all we had to do was plug them in. Now that we've been using voiply for a while we're starting to explore all the additional features that would make everyone's lives easier. I'm really glad we found them

Less than amazing

Unfortunate experience of a programming issue on their end leading to being assigned a number that they didnt have reserved. When first aware of getting an number for texting only message when I tried calling my business number, was told by customer service nothing was wrong, it was just bc I tried calling on my cell when I had the App installed on same phone. Months later, became aware number wasnt working. Long wait to get through to customer service. Told nothing was wrong. Issue persisted, it took multiple calls (most with long waits) and several emails over several days to finally get an explanation. Couldnt fix the problem, though. Had to take a new number, meaning I had to reprint marketing and business material. Their glitch ended up being fairly costly for me. Not confidence inspiring as a reliable phone service. Fingers crossed it gets better. Not sure whether I would recommend.

Incompetent and Rude Company with inconsistent quality

Where do I start? The service quality is inconsistent, the customer service is the worst I have ever seen. They are rude and at times flat out disrespectful. They have said that they cannot offer me service because of security reasons. I ask what that means..they said no information can be given. What does that mean? I have not done anything that any other small business has done. These guys are ridiculous and should not be trusted.

Mixed Feelings

We have had some problems with voice quality and down time for the past 90 days. I believe this is due to overloaded phone.com servers. Regardless of the reason, these failures were tremendously embarrassing for us. We had to apologize to everyone we spoke with on the phone and warn them that the voice quality would likely degrade after 10 minutes. Then we would have to call them back and that call would last another 10 minutes and then that call would fail and so on. There were also two situations where the phones actually completely failed for an hour or so each time. And then we also were getting people telling us that they were calling our phone number and were getting a message about the phone not being in service. None of these issues were permanent but instead were sporadic and over time. We were on the phone with phone.com support at least twice a week. They had us run through all kinds of things - we upgraded our internet speed, rebooted things, punched holes in our firewall and so on. Nothing made a difference. The support guys were super eager to help but completely tight lipped about anything on their end. So everything they wanted me to do was on the assumption that the problems were MY fault. After more than 2 months of this, we decided to hedge our bets and contacted several alternative VOIP providers. We ended up creating a redundant VOIP system using Vonage business. Same hardware on our end, same network. So, the only difference was one system used Vonage Business and the other used Phone.com. I was super loyal to Phone.com and really didn't want to change vendors unless I was certain that the problem was not us but Phone.com. Our conclusion was that the quality problem was with Phone.com servers and not us. When we used Vonage business, we never had any of the problems we saw with phone.com. We tested that new configuration side-by-side over a 2 week period and Vonage was better from a voice quality and stability standpoint. After a bit more research I think there's a few things to consider when picking a VOIP vendor. Ask them if they have a SLA. Ask if they have redundant data centers. Ask them how much down time is acceptable. Also, ask them if they run their own servers or are renting servers from a third party. I don't know exactly how Phone.com has their back end configuration set up - they never told with me that the problem I was experiencing was on their end and not my end. However, I suspect that their growth has been so fast that it has outstripped what their servers can handle. By the time you read this hopefully they will have fixed these growing pains. But, in my case we decided we could not risk our companies reputation on the growing pains of our VOIP provider and we did switch to Vonage business. I was a happy phone.com customer for more than 2 years. However the quality problems over the past 2 months forced me to switch

Not as reliable as I need - phone.com

Have experienced long outages by the 800# at critical times. We use phone.com to power a call center with 20 lines. The outages have been very nearly crippling, and I am nervous they will happen again. During outages, very difficult to get ahold of customer support. Could not get through to support so tried getting through to sales to speak to a live person and get our needs appropriately prioritized. Could not get through to a person, left message, and never heard back. Problem fixed two days later at cost of lost opportunities. I suspect phone.com may not have the proper redundancy and failovers to be counted on by a business with a heavy reliance on it's phone systems. While I've not made a final decision, we will be evaluating early next year whether phone.com is still the right provider for us

Unique Features / Very Flexible - phone.com

We have been evaluating solutions to get away from RingCentral for quite awhile. While Phone.com is not perfect, we think it will provide the flexibility we require that RingCentral lacks. Their call rules are vastly superior to anything else we evaluated. We run (3) companies under the same roof, each with their own auto-attendant. With Phone.com we can have one account and play different greetings based on the number the customer dialed. With other platforms, we would have to sign up for multiple accounts each with their own users and minutes. Phone.com's call handling is also very flexible. When wait times are exceeded, you can do everything from play a recorded message, transfer to voicemail, or forward to another queue / extension. With most other services, when wait times are exceeded, your options are to send to voicemail or hangup. A gripe we had was how we couldn't setup call screening on queues... we have a lot of mobile users that use cell phones and the "press to connect" feature prevents the cell phone carrier's VM from taking the call instead of the PBX's voicemail system. Customer service was okay. We had some issues on New Year's Eve / New Years day that were not resolved for a few days into the new year. While I understand many companies are understaffed this time of the year, I still want to know we have access to 1 24x7x365 support to handle urgent matters. I rate the customer service "okay" because our issue was resolved eventually

Poor customer service - Phone.com

I signed up today after someone recommended the service. The price was a little higher than I wanted to pay, but with the happy review from a friend I thought I would give it a shot. It took me (literally) 2 hours to try to get things set up, and after I was unable to get a feature to work, I thought I would try to give the customer service a call for help. I sat on hold for more than 30 minutes and decided that I am not willing to offer that much money to a company who makes finding help so difficult. I'm sure they are a great company. I just need more peace of mind when my business is involved

They are a good service SOMEDAY, right now its real buggy and has a lot of issues that you simply cannot trust if you are using them for business or anything serious. I send this email to them and got no reply:
Danielle, we can talk anytime, here are my concerns:
1) From Debras email I was under the impression that there was a past due PREVIOUS invoice that carried over - that was confusing as I have paid each month.
2) The Pending local number message that still persist in screen is bothersome and may be indicative of a coding problem that might be affecting my service. Since I already emailed Leslie about this weeks ago with a screenshot, I assumed it would have been resolved. Apparently the work I am putting into helping phone.com fix problems is wasted time - I do not waste time.
3) Conversations do not always record, there is a pretty good history of logs where conversations go unrecorded despite all being set to record.
4) Cant delete recordings. As a security consultant this appears to be a severe problem with security that we are ultimately saddled with. If we have archived messages and are ultimately responsible for if recorded conversations we have made are shared, lost or stolen or hacked into, we could be violating Federal law without a way to delete them and actually take proactive steps to protect these federally protected conversations.
5) Downloaded recordings are not saveable with logical names (numbers called in and out and date) but instead a random string that does not help in archiving. At minimum the log should maintain the 1 recording file name
6) The current activity in May 2015 has calls from November 2014.database issue (very scary).
7) The caller id issue which I think was fixed..
8) Despite phone.com blogging about how great zoho is in 2012, in 2015 there still is no way to integrate phone.com into zoho CRM (twilio and Ringio have that integration). Feature suggestion...
These our issues with phone.com. Now we are actively using ringcentral, vonage, twilio, ringio and other services and if we moved all our business to one provider, they would have a great deal of business with us. Sadly all are not quite there yet.
Hopefully this wont fall on deaf ears.

Phone.com: Best decision ever made for phone service

I've had Phone.com for 2 years now and have to say that it is the best decision ever made. The user GUI is very simple to understand yet VERY easy to customize...I had a ball creating custom greetings for every single person in my address book! I've NEVER had a service issue with them and my support has ALWAYS been quick and accurate. When my card expired for auto payments, they just automatically put it off until the next billing cycle.
I do wish they would give the account information as I already use a softphone for work and would really like just add a second line instead of having to "purchase" their softphone. But other than that, i have no complaints. I even had need for a 3rd line for a few months and when I cancelled service they did not request the ATA be returned so I factory reset it and used it for Google Voice.
All in all, very worth the money

I haven't used them for very long as I decided to go with Sonic.net that offers a fusion DSL and land line service. However, the fact that I was able to call and cancel on the spot without returning their equipment or any other gimmick that other VOIP provider go to to stick you with another month or two of billings speaks volumes to me about their customer service or business practices. Way to go Phone.com! If I ever decide to go VOIP route again, they are the first company I will call

Good idea, very poor execution, stay away from phone.com

Great concept, and I really wished it worked for me (going to try another provider to see if they can do it properly), but execution was really poor with phone.com. I travel a lot with my job and need a phone service that can do so with me. The idea of phone.com was appealing so I attempted to set up an account and try it out. The setup process is very difficult to understand. I would recommend that you don't try to figure it out, just contact customer service and have them walk you through it. Some CSRs are really great (others no so much).
I was really excited about two things: Mobile App, and Softphone. I wasn't able to get the mobile app working properly (but this can be my particular situation, and can't ding them for it), and the softphone is difficult to get set up. It is also very heavy and designed for a call center (I think they just use a prepackaged softphone product, with little configuration). I had long system boot times after installing it, and it took a while to log in (skype is much faster and lighter - never thought I would say that!).
What really got me was that they locked my account because I wasn't in my home area. To me that was the whole point! The really bad part is not that they locked it, but they didn't notify me. It took me contacting them to figure it out, and the process to get it working again seemed long and complex. At one point it is just not worth it.
TL;DR: If you are looking for a mobile voip solution that is solid, keep going, nothing to see at phone.com

Great Customer Service Phone.com

Good call quality and reliability.
I was especially happy with customer service. When I cancelled my account halfway through the month, I was refunded half of my bill for the unused half of the month remaining. I was not pressured to keep my service.
The only issue I had was unexpected fees pushed my bill up from the advertised $14.99/mo to just over $19/mo

Phone.com telephone support is AWESOME, but they can still improve on their billing policies/procedures

The only reason I might leave Phone.com is this issue of counting incoming calls against my plan (many others count only outbound calls). I don't use my land-line for much. Virtually no outgoing calls, and only a few incoming calls (so I use the metered minute plan to save $$$). However, unless I keep on top of my call logs and actively block all the telemarketing idiots that incessantly call my number, I sometimes risk going over my minutes allotment (more than 50% of my minutes, and sometimes as high as 90%, go to incoming unsolicited sales calls every month. I guess that's what I get for having the same phone number for twenty years). Given the fact that many other VOIP carriers do not count incoming calls against their plan minutes, does make me consider changing VOIP providers...
But, then something comes up and I need their help....and the experience always reminds me of just how great their customer service is. In my experience, its hard to find -- almost impossible in fact -- a company whose "customer service" isn't merely a euphemism for emotional rape. I haven't had an inordinate number of issues with my VOIP service with Phone.com, but the two or three issues that came up every year are always fixed promptly by their staff, and my experiences are not merely adequate, but are so good I have to rave about them a bit (when I call them on the phone only; its not so great when you contact them through email). Rarely do I experience much of a hold queue. I have never had to endure any forwarding of my issue through some silly hierarchy within their customer service department. The person I spoke to always had the power to solve both my technical and my billing issues right over the phone, and I have never encountered anyone with inadequate speaking and/or communication skills for this kind of support. In short, their staff is not simply adequate, but inordinately well-trained and professional -- what everyone expects but rarely experiences. If I simply went with their unlimited minutes plans (at twice the monthly rate), my complaint here would be moot and I would definitely give phone.com the highest of recommendations. But for those of us who are frugal and/or on a budget, my issue here might be worth their consideration

Glitchy System and Poor Customer Service with Phone.com

They tell me that they are in a years-long process migrating from an open source to a commercial VOIP server. This may be way they have glitches they can't or won't fix. CS asking me to document problems, or else tells me to use poor practice configuring their system, until I give up. Examples are a defect that would not ring all numbers a forward to a virtual extension that mixed real and virtual extensions. They insisted that I instead duplicate the same numbers in several places in the system, which is obviously poor practice. I guess it was fixed, though they didn't bother to notify me. For almost a year, I've been reporting that calls cut off if the ring time expires after answering, if the call announcement tag is playing ("call to customer service"). They can't seem to understand this, and two days after providing detailed instructions to reproduce the error, including call logs, they are asking for the same thing again. Very frustrating. Also, I echo the experience of billing errors

Fraught with constant technical and billing problems

We have experienced almost constant technical and billing glitches with Phone.com. We found out (fortunately through a non life-threatening situation) that 911 did not work on our Phone.com phone. That took about a week to fix -- too long. After we fixed being able to dial through to 911, it took another week to make sure that 911 showed the correct address for our phone. We get constant comments from people trying to call our home phone that they could not get through. They get weird voicemail recordings, beeps and other strange technical manifestations. Phone.com would straighten these things out, but the inconvenience of constant onslaught of problems was beyond frustrating. Phone.com also continually billed us over $68/month for a package that was supposed to cost about $23/month. I would contact them and complain, they would apologize and say they fixed it, but the overcharge would show on my next month's credit card bill. The big savings isn't worth the frustration

I've been a phone.com customer since January of 2012. In that time they have gone down several times. When the service goes down, it can be offline from a few minutes to a few hours. To make things worse, their customer support team disappears when there's a problem. I believe they use their own phone system for customer support, which would explain why it doesn't ring, or rings busy when there's an outage. I'm extremely disappointed in Phone.com, and am actively shopping other vendors

I ordered phone.com based on the reviews. Everything went well until there was a problem that needed to be resolved. The ATA that phone.com sent had a problem and it was not able to make my analog phone ring properly. After nearly 2 weeks of dealing with customer support, I gave them a choice. Either send me a new ATA or I will terminate service. The customer support person insisted that more troubleshooting needed to be done before they could replace the ATA. I again told them that I would only accept a new ATA as a solution. Even after the ultimatum the customer service person stuck to the original position that they would not replace the ATA.
I fired them! I now have Vonage and am quite happy.
Avoid these people. They have little to no customer support to assist in the event of a problem

I used Phone.com for 2 years. The service suited my needs; however, customer service was difficult to reach. When I finally decided to cancel service, there was no way to do so from the control panel. That being the case, I called Phone.com customer servce. After waiting some time to speak to someone, I was told my account was cancelled. Come to find out, it was not. I was suppose to confirm via email which defeats the purpose of calling. I was charged for another month. I tried calling customer again but hung up after waiting 20 minutes. After sending an email to support, I promptly received a response indicating that my account is cancelled; however, I will only be credited a portion of the monthly charge. In my opinion, this is a disappointing business practice which overcharges customers. With the number of different VoIP providers today besides phone.com, I would recommend you look elsewhere. andnbsp

I was so sick of paying ATandT $40+ a month for getting mostly 800# calls and being charged a lot of money for local long distance, that I went into the voip service feet first.
I have to say that I didn't think things out too well and canceled my ATandT account and created my phone.com account online on the same day. It took a few days to get my phone # ported, but I wasn't worried about that. It also took another couple of days to get the Linksys phone adapter delivered.
The set up was fairly easy. Unfortunately, the Linksys phone adapter, which phone.com provided for free was DOA. I called phone.com and was surprised to hear an American rep talking to me, since most customer support is overseas. The guy was more than happy to assist and when we both figured out that the adapter was the problem. He promptly sent me a new one, via overnight delivery.
All in all, it took a couple of weeks to get my voip service set up. Part of that was my fault though, because I was really in no rush to set it up and get service up and running. After the new adapter came. It was a breeze to set up and the call quality has been pretty good.
The only thing that new customers really need to understand is that the adapter needs to be hooked up to your router/gateway, directly via phone cable. So, instead of my phone being where it was with ATandT. It is now closer to the router/gateway and phone adapter, via telephone line. Only because I really didn't want take the time to run and hide a 50tf line to the original location. I also wish that the Linksys phone adapter had wifi capabilities, so I could have left my phone where it originally was.
Other than that small gripe. I am happy to be paying 1/4 of what my ATandT bill was. It's also nice to have the ability to check phone messages online and have the ability to get text messages on new voicemails

Absolutely terrible for a business. Outages are common, and God forbid it happens on a weekend you can't get anyone to help. There recently was an outage, and their tech people said they fixed it, but it wasn't fixed. Customer service people didn't believe me that there was still a problem. When I tried to escalate the issue becuase my business couldn't operate until the issue was fixed, I got passed to 3 different cust srvce agents who would not escalate the issue.2 days and $10,000 in lost revenue later I am still waiting for help! DO NOT USE THEM IF YOUR BUSINESS DEPENDS ON YOUR PHONE/FAX SERVICE

Phone.com has been everything I expected. Very good sound quality, rock solid performance, and customer support whenever you need it. 24X7 Customer Support is a MUST, which I found out the hard way with the company I had trialed previously. Features are comparable to the other VOIP providers, plus Phone.com provides 60 minutes of international calling per month to a number of countries outside of North America. My only knock on the features is that some of them can not be enabled/customized by an end user, unless you pay for their 'virtual office' offering. All in all, I have been pleased with their service and will recommend it to anyone who asks

Just on the Bandwagon

When I was considering coming back to a "land line" due to a promotion at work that meant I would be hours on the phone in meetings, but could do that at home, I was curious, but apprehensive about the idea of VOIP technology. I mean, I knew that this was precisely the kind of service we had at work, but how would it work at home?
So, I did all the reading and decided on Phone.com. So far so good. The equipment showed up from Fed Ex a couple days after we signed up, I plugged it in, plugged in the phone and we were off and running.
Just yesterday my wife and I were both working from home. So we had three computers running through our cable internet service, plus the phone. I was able to participate in meetings without any sound or noise problems, with no perceivable impact on our computer access.
We are very pleased so far

I recently switched from ATandT to Phone.com and am thrilled. The call quality is actually better than with ATandT and Customer service is courtesy and helpful. The new system was easy to install and a my new number was up and running in minutes. I traveled to Europe and was able to use my Voip adapter from there and receive and place calls as if I were at home. Phone.com emails me with a mp3 file of each voicemail as soon as it is recieved; this has proved priceless while traveling. Honestly, I couldn't be happier

I should have written this review ages ago but here goes. I switched over to phone.com from Vonage at the suggestion of a friend. I had had problems with Vonage in that there were days that I would try to make a call and have no line. Also line quality was often poor. This is my second voip service and it is so much better than my old one. Sign up was easy. Got the phone adapter in 3 days and indeed it was plug and play.Took it overseas and it worked perfect as well. I love the fact that I can have all my phones (I have 3) can ring at once so if i am not near my home phone i pick up the call on my cell! Called customer service once to get some help with schedule set up and they were great. Overall - using it three months and very happy

I have completed a fair amount of research and contact a number of VoIP carriers and Phone.Com was the best by far. I work in telecommunications ( not this company). I emailed the support center some questions and based on inquires to other companies I went for the quick answer and started an online chat. I hit the Support Tech with a number of questions (6) , both mid level technical and the basic how to structure a rate plan best for my needs. He either came back with a complete answer or said he would follow-up and email me the answer when he checked with the supervisors.When I signed off with the Live Chat 10 min latter I was surprised to find an email with all my questions answered in good level of detail. Conclusion - Either they have a lot more support tech available then the other companies, they are very well trained, or Both.They have my business

I'm Thrilled with my Phone.com Residential Voip Service

I use phone.com for my small business and for residential too. This is my first experience using any type of VOIP and I am very pleasantly surprised. Let's start with the fact that the price blows the big guys out of the water... But what makes it exceptional is that you get all sorts of extra services for free that the traditional carriers don't offer at any cost... For example, I have it set up so that all of my voice mails get forwarded to my cell phone and transcribed into text! The service is quick and simple to set up - and such a great convenience... The quality of the connection is great...and the price is certainly right. I can't really comment on customer service as I've never actually had to use it!

A great voip company

I use phone.com for my business and for my home. As a rule for both, they provide excellent service for a formidable price. On top of that, although I did not require a lot of customer support, but when I needed it, it was one of the best service experiences I had.
On the residential service, check-out their rates, including and especially international. The setup is similar to other companies and the quality of sound is superior to the previous to the previous 2 voip services I used. Needless to say, inthe last 9 months I used the service, I never had a call disconnected, or with low quality.
The virtual office is the cream on the pie, so many features packed in a great package, that is probably the best deal for a virtual pbx you'll find. The cool functions, include easily definable menus with many cool features, and flexibility you can't easily find in more expensive services.
I've recently refered to them a friend who runs a mission-critical global operation, and I would recommend them to others as well, not just because of the price. andnbsp

Having never dealt with VoIP service prior to Phone.com, I was extremely pleased with the ease and simplicity of configuring my small business phone line. I'm an old timer--I usually have to ask my son for help, but not this time! And the pricing is great too (but go with the annual plan because there's a discount). I was a bit perplexed at where to begin, but after reading their Userguide, I managed to find my way around the control panel. Their customer support is always there to pick up (they are based in the US and they speak English). I spoke with a representative for about 10 minutes one day and he guided me through the Queue process then we chatted about baseball for the remaining time. Can't beat that!
I was able to get an 877 number plus a local number to receive faxes (they get emailed to me) for my business. I made my own recordings and everything is working like a charm! I am so pleased that I have recommended them to many other small business owners

After paying $80.00 monthly for a Verizon landline I decided to dump it and go with VOIP. Ran accross Phone.com while browsing and decided to give it a shot after chatting online with their CSR (Juan). Ordered on Monday, received ATA via FedEx ground on Wednesday. ATA Install was purely Plug and Play and done in minutes. Call quality is excellent and very close to my landline (a very pleasant surprise), both on long distance and local calls. I have the 200 minute plan at $10.00 a month. I have Verizon DSL at the slower 768/128 speed. Great set of features and a very useful web based control planel. I selected a new phone number from them rather than porting my home number which I plan on doing later after I officially desconnect my Verizon landline. Great communication from Phone.com prior to me receiving the ATA such as user id, password, instructions, etc. Very impressed with the entire process and would certainly recommend Phone.com to anyone

I had used Cable vision, just to discover that international calling is disabled unless you pay extra or pay upfront. I had used Vonage, just to discover charges that were not mine, and had to spend hours fixing that. It also took me about an hour to get out of that service.
I had used land lines from ATT, to find out that call forwarding takes a day to activate, and $20 activation fees. Not to mention a hefty bill every month.
I had used Verizon and I am not repeating that mistake.
I recently discovered Phone.com Home Phone service, the nicest customer support I have ever seen (24*7), the best prices I could find on the unlimited plan (better than Vonage), and probably the best international calling rates I have seen (to the countries I usually use and checked).
On top of that you get all the features you can dream of included, just to name a few, 411, 911 emergency (I already tried this once), and anything you can think of in a home phone system.
The Linksys ATA (I learned that this is how they call the device that connects between the phone jack and the Internet cable modem) I got was plug and play, it took me 5 minutes to install and I am happy since then.
If you are thinking of changing or saving money on your phone bill during those hard times in the economy, this is as good as it gets. This is how a phone company that wants loyal customers should behave.
Definitely a home run for me.

The Good: Very easy to use, very professional, very affordable
The Bad: My first phone number was blocked by the prison
Review: Hosted Numbers has been very helpful in getting a local number to talk to my daughter who is in prison. When the first number that I got was blocked, they were very nice when they explained how that worked and how I could get a different one that might not be. Just be aware that theyre not affiliated with the prison system so they cant tell you if numbers are going to be blocked. Theyre very upfront and nice about it, and dont judge you or treat you badly because of your situation. Very very nice customer service staff

Very unreliable service

We made the worst business decision and moved our service to VOIPO. They are very unreliable. They have too many problems that I do not believe they know how to solve. We have lost so much business without knowing because customers can not reach us. When their server goes down, which happens very often, their customer support number and their live chat goes down so, you can not reach them. We are moving our service away ASAP. I wish I can sue them for the amount of business we lost.

8 years a VOIPO customer, but an awful company

I was a VOIPO customer from 2011 to 2019. After I sent an email to discontinue future service, and they acknowledged it, they still tried to charge my credit card for future service anyway a few days later. They also are claiming that they want me to pay $49.99 for an 8 year $25 router when new or return it, but it died years ago and I switched to my own replacement (Obihai) router. They did not request the return of the router ~3 years ago when I let them know it failed, but now want me to pay double the brand new price on a discontinued, un-pro-rated and horrible router. I had lots of problems before I switched to my own.

Very Poor Customer Service

I used VOIPo for more than 4 years. After I solved the static issue caused by FIOS with my filter, the service was acceptable. VOIPo was unable to solve it in those days. here are providers with comparable or better service and lower prices, such as AxVoice. At renewals, they refused to offer any alternatives to take-it-or-leave-it pricing. The customer insults come when you cancel service. They demand the $5 adapter back or they will charge $49.95. After receiving the adapter with all identifying information, they want to know the UPS tracking number. Makes you wonder how many hundreds are received each day.

They disconnected my service even though I prepaid for 2 more months. They sent me email saying I requested to disconnect service, which is not true. I cannot even contact them since they deleted my account and the only way to contact them is by logging on your account on their website. Ridiculous. If you want to have horrible experience - try VOIPO.

Truck load of features at a low price ... 1 1/2 years with VoIPo

I was with Vonage Residential (another VOIP provider) for several years and loved the sound quality and features that came with the service, but the price increased every year. Vonage was becoming as expensive as an ATandamp;T landline. I saw an advertisement for VoIPo promising all these features for a low price - I was very skeptical. I decided to give them a try. I started the transition to VoIPo by sending a signed request to my old service provider (Vonage) for the release of my phone number a month in advance. I had no idea these phone companies required so much time to release a telephone number these days. Once the number was verified and released VoIPo quickly setup the number on their servers. Configuring the VOIP adapter on my end was relatively painless. Once everything was setup I noticed the voice quality with VoIPo was not bad, but not as good as the outstanding voice quality of Vonage. Considering the money I am saving that is a compromise I will make any day. About a month after the transition the voicemail out for over a week. I was not a happy camper. It took a lot of communication with the help desk over several days before issue was finally resolved. One of the more knowledgeable technicians went through all my settings and got things running smoothly. The voice quality seems a little better too. I have been with VoIPo for about a year and half while using Comcast as my ISP. I have not had any issues since the voicemail failure over a year ago. I am pleased with the current level of service and totally delighted with the price. Yes, I have recommended VoIPo to my friends and relatives. I have taken advantage of their 2 year extension sale.

I have now been with them for two years and while they had their issues at the beginning, you simply cannot beat the price for the number of features you get. Ooma and Vonage are no comparison. The support gave me an attitude about using my own VOIP phone that they "do not support" but still gave me the necessary settings to allow my unit to be used with their system. You have to know what and how to use the control panel if you want a successful phone system. Plugging it in and walking away isn't the way to approach this service at all. I thought I would be smart and switch to the Ooma business and I quickly found out that the VOIPO had so many more features available and that if you wanted anything done at Ooma you had to use their equipment that you needed to purchase from them. I immediately switched back and VOIPO gave me no attitude about my F-up. Lesson Learned ---- Good Service!!

No customer service - VoIPO

If all you want are headaches, then this company will deliver that. VOIPO does not care about customer service. The customer service agents are rude and will lie to you, just to get you off the phone. They will always state that the problem is yours and then fix the problem later on, doing the work on their end. I have read that Timothy Dick (the owner), cares about the customers, but this is not reflected at all in the attitude of the customer service department. Not so surprisingly, the price that they advertise is not the price that you will pay. The absolute minimum with a 2 year contract, paying the whole amount in advance, is $7.71/ month. They also do not have the same high rating among they reviews as the other companies which actually charge less per month. It also appears that being honest with customers is not very important. If you do get their service and need to transfer to another company, be aware of the problems and difficulty your will have. VOIPO has kept customer phone numbers and forced the customer to pay for another month before they were willing to transfer the number. The claim it is part of their fine print

VOIPO - Switched March 2016 No Problems

VOIPO.I have used this service for over six months and find it a great value. My cost of $7 to $9 a month is well worth it. I added two years for $185, compared to the $60 - $70 a month I was paying Verizon. The caller ID seems very primitive, it is only accurate about 25% of the time. The site has many option, I have easily blocked phony Microsoft,Credit Card,etc calls. They need to add a manual that describes and shows how to uses the various options.The sound quality can sometimes be spotty although I am not sure if it is the IP service or my 15 year old Panasonic cordless system. With all the cell phones in the family the landline wasn't needed, but we have had the number for 35 years and many old friends and family still contact us on it

Horrible Customer Service - Voipo

I signed up for the service a few weeks ago for my own house. I got the adapter in the mail but decided I did not want to set it up yet because I also figured this would be a good service for my parents. I am going there for thanksgiving and my only chance to get it setup for them. I called voipo and they said it was not possible to transfer the adapter to another account. I asked if I could sign them up for their own account and then pay extra to have it shipped with two day shipping. They said there was no way to do this. Have they ever heard of driving to a post office and request priority SHIPPING? I heard in other reviews how the owner, Tim, was so customer centric and willing to really help its customers. So much for that. Not only am I going to go elsewhere for my parents account, but I am going to cancel my newly opened account and get a refund. They definitely do not seem like a company that caters to its paying customers

Likeable company? Not so much - Voipo

In February 2016, we decided to switch to Voipo from our previous voice-over-ip company of 5 years for VOIPO's competitive price. We didn't think much of it since we treated that number as a backup landline phone and rarely used it anyways. Our first trouble was that after a few days of waiting, we found out that the number porting was disapproved and further action was required. What??? The reason, according to Voipo, was that our previous company would not release it. ( But really?? I should have noticed at that time Voipo had a tendency to blame others for wrongdoing.) Then next few days, a few back and forth message exchanges and more documentation ( with zero help of a real human at Voipo by the way, more a DIY style navigation), finally the number was ported, much longer than I ever thought. This lengthy process should have been a warning sign for me to stay away from Voipo. Keep in mind this porting drama happened AFTER I paid for a two year contract, and all of a sudden not sure whether the porting would eventually get through or we would lose the number of many years. Before that, I had always assumed number porting was a breeze in the process of switching providers. When the time came we finally plugged in the Voipo adapter, we noticed something odd, that was, one phone jack on Voipo adapter was dead, and the remaining working one had a high static background noise, At that time, I told my wife Voipo must have blocked one of them and allowed only one to work. I didn't assume that could be a detective equipment mainly because that had never happen with other companies we were with. Since this was a backup number we only used occasionally, we simply tolerated the background statics of that working line. That's our second mistake. Little did we know later on Voipo would blame us for that first adapter, while it was a defective unit upon its arrival. Thinking back, we were tired from chasing down the number porting process and just wanted some peace. Fast forward another two months, one day in April 2016, my wife decided to use that now VOIPO number to make a call, and the statics was so incredible, that makes a conversation impossible. I contacted Voipo. After a few days of message exchanges and self troubleshooting attempts based on their instructions, they finally agreed to send us a new unit. The new unit worked well, with clear signals on both phone jacks. But again, we should have noticed that it took quite a bit of convincing for Voipo to take any action to help their customers out, correcting a mistake that's most likely their own fault. They blame all on the customers, as if we were criminals who just loved to cheat. Rather, we were just happy that finally we had our usable phone back! A simple joy we assumed and always had with our previous two priders. Well, not so fast! Fast-forward another 4 months, in August 2016, we accidentally noticed ( again, we rarely used that phone) that there was zero signal from that phone line. When did that first happen ? We weren't really sure. It's not our day-to-day phone. So as an experienced DIYer by this point, I started the troubleshoot, from the network setting, to power outlet. This took me precious multiple hours of attempts to rule out every possible causes that's not adapter related. When I had my prime suspect of the problem, the adapter again. I realized that I could not fix on my own, I contacted Voipo. Of course, another long journey of convincing and agony which showcased how little Voipo thought of customers. In their mind, we were all merely criminal who would like to scam their company! Each question asked was repeated a dozen times by different rep and support tech, who didn't bother spend time reading the written notes and my typed answers. Imagine each time I typed the same lengthy answers to address the inquiries of a tech or network engineer, before it was handed out to the next, who asked the same question without reading what's been asked and done, all clearly typed in the ticket trail? It ended up a long digital paper trail with repeated questions and answers. So 5 hours later, problem was still unsolved. They sent a ticket suggesting that I initiated an online help session, in which they navigated my home computer and network environment remotely. I agreed. Another 3 hours passed, they finally came to the conclusion that VOIPO adapter was the culprit, something I had been telling them all along. Guess what, at this point, Voipo put in words that basically said we were the one who messed up the system - you damaged it, you paid for it. All yours. They took zero blame. Really? In the almost past 10 years of time we never had such experience with any other service providers. How low the ethics bar can a company has? It was the low cost and the shear numbers of features Voipo offered lured us to switch. We were speechless to hear Voipo would finger point on us that we broke the 2 units. We have a rather new house with surge protection wired, temperature and humidity control all year round and even a designated area for the adapter where no one is nearby. Not to mention our good records in the past with companies. If any blame has to be placed, I would think it's likely the quality of Voipo equipment, the adapter they sent us. Stop sending us junk! Hope this experience of our account will help you with more well rounded assessment. Don't simply go for the price and features alone! We certainly regretted our decision and the precious time and efforts that cost us. Now, by switching it out to another service provider again and abandoning a two year prepaid contract, we also lost on the money side too. A lesson learned. A lot of people might be wondering why you need to use VOIP instead of a traditional land-line. VOIP has become extremely popular, thanks to Skype, a service that lets you use your computer to talk to your friends over a broadband internet connection. Right now, most TV cable companies and phone companies offer VOIP handset deals. The reason why they are so popular is because in most place, the old phone company had always the monopoly of landlines. Calls between cities in the same country are considered as long distance, and don't even start looking at international long distance calls. The costs are pretty steep. But first of all, what is VOIP? VOIP stands for Voice Over Internet Protocol, a way to talk over the internet. Most people use VOIP as a bundled phone service through their cable provider. However many people are not aware that many companies provide a better feature set at a cheaper price! One such provider I used to run my business is VOIPo.com. They offer many advanced features which many cable companies simply don't offer at a fraction of the price. Here are some examples on how VOIPo makes me more productive everyday:
-If I'm going to be out of the office with just a few keypad entries all my calls can follow me wherever I go.
-Thanks to custom caller ID if someone in my online address book calls me from their cell phone I don't have to guess who the number belongs to.
-Some months I do alot of remote support which has to be billed hourly or flat rate. With the calls logs being conveniently logged in a control panel there is no need to watch a call timer.
-I use a service called YouMail which is voice-mail on steroids; using VOIP's call forwarding along with YouMail all my messages go to one unified mailbox. That is just my preference and VOIPo in itself has voice-mail that works very well.
-Choice of phones! Whether you want to use your existing phone system with the ATA they send you or want to use a softphone client on your PC, MAC, or smartphone devices one can answer calls where it is convenient for them. Personally I use a Cisco 525G2 IP phone on my desk along with an ATA hooked up to a waterproof cordless phone.
-Sick of telemarketers and Robocalls? VOIPo has their own telemarketer block list and integrates with NoMoRobo so no longer will they interrupt your dinner. What I love the most is their pricing 180.00 for 2 years of phone service. One can pay yearly or even monthly. However most all of my clients have opted to pay for two years in advance at such a great price point

Voipo Service is awesome!

I have had Voipo for the last 3 years and it just keeps getting better. First it is reasonably priced at around $6/mo for unlimited calling. You even get 60 minutes of international calling each month included with that. Voicemail is emailed to you in wav files. I have also recently begun using a softphone on my iPhone with my Voipo service which allows me to make and receive calls from my home line using my iPhone no matter where I am in the world! Fantastic! The support is CA based and extremely responsive. Open a ticket online or call and they get back to you right away. I was paying over $40/mo to the phone company for worse service. The only downside is that the 411 they provide is automated and you have to listen to an add, but I rarely use it and opt to simply google my phone numbers. Do not hesitate to sign up especially if you are already using a cable company voip service. Also enter 7325230700 into the promo code field and you will get a free month added to your subscription

VOIPo - Fast Service - Review

Box came fast. Plug in, wait, worked perfect. Love all the features. got 2 months free so less than $7.00 per month. Service for ? very fast and just what I needed. Called New Zealand and daughter was on cell phone outside so really poor on her end. Called her again when she was in the house and no difference from line call. Got everything set up on line really good choices. Would pick it again. Had it 5 weeks so far and not one single problem

ALMOST (but not quite) there! -Voipo

This was the first VoIP provider I tried, and I liked quite a few things about them. I really wanted this to work out, but in the end there was one single showstopper that led me to switch to PhonePower. VOIPo's residential service has quite a few bells and whistles that I found useful. One key feature is the way they allow you to forward calls to your cell phone(s) for simultaneous rings. Normally this is an issue because your cell phone's voicemail might pick up the call (right away if you have no coverage), and your home phone will stop ringing. With VOIPo, once you pick up a forwarded call, you need to confirm that you want to receive it... A very simple and practical safeguard that I wish PhonePower had as well. Also, it allows you to pick any of your registered numbers (virtual numbers, your cell phone numbers) as outgoing Caller ID. In my case, I have no cell phone coverage at home, so this allows me to use my cell phone number as my public "main" presence regardless. Combined with forwarding unanswered calls from my cell phone to my VOIPo number, I can then pick up incoming calls whether I'm in coverage (my cell), at home, or via a SIP soft phone from anywhere. (What particularly makes this attractive is that VOIPo's voice mail system is nicer and more practical than that of my cell phone carrier... voice mails can be sent to your email address as attachments, for instance). Now the negatives. First, the VOIPo-supplied phone adapter would lose its registration at regular intervals. My home network is behind a NAT router (basically a Linux box with masquerading firewall, but it's apparently the same issue with a standard NAT/broadband router you'd buy in a store), which means that the adapter does not have a public IP address (presence) on the Internet. So the adapter can initiate contact with the VOIP registration server, but not the other way around. To keep the channel open, the device would normally send "keep-alive" packets to the server at regular intervals.. say every 30 seconds or so. Also, the device needs to re-register with the service every so often - perhaps every 1 - 3 hours. For whatever reason, the VOIPo Registration server keeps losing the VOIPo adapter's registration after a few (10-15) minutes, and the device would not be able to receive incoming call until its next registration, some 45 minutes later. In other words, it would have an active "duty cycle", as it were, of some 1/4 of the time. I did some testing, using my own VoIP soft phone (a Yealink SIP-22P from Amazon), and found a similar issue - at the default 3600 second/1 hour registration interval (even with keep-alive packets every 30 seconds in the interim), the VOIPo registration would lapse after 10-15 minutes. To work around this, I had to set the registration interval very short - 300 seconds/5 minutes. After this, I did not have any more registration issues with my SIP phone (or my soft phones) - but since I was not able to configure the VOIPo adapter, I was not able to use this. [*][**]
[*] VOIPo included a piece of paper with the adapter where they explained that if you are behind a NAT router, you need to forward all incoming traffic on UDP ports 2000-65000 to their adapter. This is a non-starter if you, like me, have other services in use. Also even when testing this, it did not seem to address the problem.
[**] In contrast, I now use a 7200 second (2 hour) registration interval with PhonePower, without any issues whatsoever. It's simply rock solid. This led me straight to the 2nd and more important showstopper. International calls are restricted when using your own device (like my SIP phone). You can whitelist specific countries, but this does not always work. I had to contact their tech support line for them to fix something in order to be able to call to Norway, and even after multiple attempts, they were unable to fix whitelisting of calls to Taiwan. In other words:
- Calling certain destinations is only possible when using the VOIPo supplied adapter - The VOIPo supplied adapter does not work well behind NAT firewalls. Lastly, although voice quality was overall pretty good - VERY good at times - there were other times when the voice was terribly garbled both ways. I've not experienced this once I switched to PhonePower

I can recommend VOIPo

I have been a VOIPo customer since the summer of 2010 and, though I've lived at several different locations during the past four years, I have had use of my same New York-based telephone number in a number of locations. It has been easy to hook it up anywhere there has been broadband internet service.
In the account settings online, you can set voice mail to come to you as an mp3 file attached to an email. This wonderful feature has enabled me to receive messages while en route from place to place by using public wifi, checking email, and playing the messages through my media player. VOIPo also offers call recording, call forwarding, call waiting, distinctive ringtone, a do not disturb setting, and detailed/extensive call history records, among other features.
Customer service and technical assistance has been quick, respectful, and responsive to my needs. And the price is right! I recommend this service and this company. My brother originally recommended VOIPo to me; he has remained with the company since 2009. I have recommended it to friends

VOIPO - few redeeming qualities

This is a pretty bad phone service. I wish I had tried it for a few months before paying up front for such a long term commitment. The service is erratic. For domestic calls or international. I signed up for a long term believing that it would be similar to my prior VOIP provider but a bit less expensive. Turns out I was wrong. These guys try hard but are simply working with a system that is deficient in so many ways that it must be impossible to keep on line.
My guess is that most customers who use this as an office or home phone will leave the service as soon as their initial period is up.
I hope that my next VOIP service is better! Otherwise Verizon here I come...

horrible VOIPO-faxes

we were not getting faxes for over a week. they could not fix the problem and didn't know what the problem was. eventually faxes started coming in again but a week later this problem happened again

Ordered May 2012 24 month prepayment. Sounded like a good deal. Billing starts when ordered, not when shipped, received, or activated. Kind petty, but whatever.
Stopped working about 8 months into it. Left it unplugged as we really don't need it and didn't have time to deal with "customer service".
Company emailed wanting me to update credit card information in July 2013. I mentioned I would not update the information as I would not renew it because it did not work. They kindly sent me to a URL to cancel. Talk about a company not caring if their product works. I finally got them to look into the issue and they now blame the issue on my ISP. Since I am not a computer geek I do not know how to port forward or any of that nerdy stuff. And it ain't worth paying a tech to figure it out.
I asked company to refund remaing months (11 of them) and they will not. They want their device back, so they can give it to someone else, but want to keep my money. Shady. Not recommended in the strongest terms.
Magic Jack, Ooma, Google Voice via Obitalk device are ALL an improvement and are ALL cheaper than this crappy "service"

VOIPo Simply THE BEST

I had UVerse before switching 2 years ago and I CANNOT tell the difference. What I like: Price - Where are you going to get quality service at this price? Online VPanel - If you have calls from those you wish not to hear from you can make them hear busy signal or phone out of order. You want real privacy this is the key. Customer Service - when I first got the system there were a couple of issue and the tech support was very helpful. They did have to move me to another server and for the last 2 years it has been completely trouble free. Quality - No one can tell this is VoIP. I added a vitual fax (with added number) for $18/yr. I can receive faxes through that number to my email and send them from my computer. Pretty slick

Very good tracking on your account via their website. Voice clarity was okay, we just could not use a computer on the same broadband dsl connection the phone was on at the same time of making a call. It would make the phone call choppy

Worth switching from Vonage

I got my box Jan. 19th 2013 so I waited before posting this positive review. I had Vonage for years and seemed to always have to address audio quality issues or reset. I was concerned with the negative Voipo reviews like after using it for a over two months or making so many calls the quality drops off (NOT!). Some were using Uverse and I must say it does help to configure the Uverse ports settings and plug the Voipo RJ45 directly into one of the four uverse router ports. Don't trust my review do what I did try them out but don't get rid of your current service till happy than do the port # over. If Uverse would not increase my 2 yr bundle package price up $35 for dropping the voice line and using Voipo I would do it.

Crappy sound quality - Stay Away!

I thought we would be a good solution to be able to have a basic landline for home. Voipo seem to work fine at first. Now, that I am working more and more from home and I am relying on my landline to make and receive business calls, Voipo's called quality has become an issue. For the most part, Voipo works fine for a short phone calls. But, if I use it for calls over five or 10 minutes, quality goes downhill fast. customer service is been courteous but unhelpful. Every time I call them, quality sounds fine, just not what I need to talk to clients.
I prepaid for two years, so I am stuck with this crap. I just called ATandT for a wired copper landline. I will keep Voipo as a second line since it's paid for

Very Good VoIP Service

I have had Voipo since March 28, 2010, going on three years. Good service. I have been around the block with Voice Over IP phone service. I first started with Sunrocket, a good service, but woke up one morning to read on CNN.com that it had went out of business and all service was suddenly shut down! The word was they didn't pay their taxes. Switched to Voip.com, not to be confused with my current provider - Voipo - with an "o." Voip was garbage. Terrible call quality and not very good customer service. With Voipo, with an "o", my current provider, I rarely have issues. I might have an occasional call not connect; once every couple of months. I email tech support, and they are all over it. Once, Voipo exchanged my adapter, while trying to figure out why the LAN port on the back was not working correctly; which started happening right after Time Warner Cable swapped out my cable modem. As expected, the issue was with TWC's cable modem; once I got rid of it, and got a Motorola Surfboard (good cable modem) the LAN issue went away again. The LAN port just allows you to have greater flexibility in connecting your equipment. I am paid up until March 2014. I thought about getting rid of all home phone service and just using my cell phone, but Voipo is such a good value and the quality and service are good, it is hard to get rid of them. I strongly recommend Voipo

I would tell people to stay away from it the price may be nice but there are countless times where i get e-mails from friends and family to inform me that my phone does not work.
contacting support is horrible. they never are there and they do not resolve anything. they tell you to reboot the adapter and it should work that is not techinical support at al

VoIPo: Robust Blocking Features

Had 3Jam which had many of the same call blocking features, alas, they sold and were not renewing accounts. Tried the Magic Jack Plus which was a childs toy. In addition, Magicjack does not allow anonymous incoming calls and play an ad prior to the call reject message. Sure, I don't normally want anonymous incoming calls either but I would like the choice. Magic Jack also blocks calls to certain areas where they have failed to nogotiate interconnect agreements so you never know if your call will work or not.
placed my order for Voipo on January 6th and requested my Google Voice number be ported to that account, finally got the Letter Of Authorization and other documents needed by Voipo to them and was told that my number had been submitted for porting. I did receive a temporary virtual number for incoming calls which I tested forwarding to my cell phone and the Magic Jack line. One surprise was a one minute call I placed to the virtual number from my ATandT number and forwarded to the Magic Jack number where I answered and said testing one, two three and hung up was billed as 361 minutes. I submitted a trouble ticket explaining this was a one minute call and there were several right after that to and from the same numbers and this could not be accurate. The response was that perhaps the equipment did not disconnect correctly and I should always be sure to disconnect??? That was a frustrating response as how could I have made several additional calls within a few minutes without disconnecting. I hope this is only a one time glitch as even though they say the service is unlimited there is an excessive usage cap of 5000 minutes as stated in their terms of service.
As mentioned earlier, their call blocking features are robust and work as described. I am deluged by telemarketers spoofing numbers and all of the available blocks provided by Voipo work perfectly.
The price is great, custimer service located in the United States

VoIPo was down more often than up

The phone service was down more than half the time than it was up. Customer service had no idea how to fix the problem although had me tweak the router multiple times. There was a lot of dead space and busy signals and when people would call the phone would hang up on them. Also, the delay was terrible. I absolutely do not recommend this phone service to anyone

VoIPo: lack of communication

The first adapter they sent me never worked properly. I spent around 10 hours on the phone with customer service for two days and they never did figure out what was wrong other than the adapter was bad. They said they would replace it and send me a new one but 3 weeks later and multiple phone calls I still did not have the new adapter. At the end of my 30 day trial I finally got the new adapter. I got it all set up and it worked great but the voice quality was horrible. At on point the voice quality was great but incoming calls did not work. They made all kinds of tweaks to my router and to the adapter and tried rerouting and different servers but nothing worked. In the end I had to cancel. After the first 30 days they told me they would grant me an addition 30 days of trial time. I cancelled online but the cancellation did not register. So I called them a couple days later to verify my account was cancelled and I had to redo the cancel. I returned the equiptment via Fed Ex and three weeks later they still did not have it in thier records. I had them track it down while I waited on the phone. Then they told me they would not honor the extra 30 garantee they promised me. The billing department would not honor what the customer service department told me and I even had it in writing. This is not a company that communicates well between department and they do not put the customer first and do not honor thier word. I find them very unethical in this manner. Most of the customer service reps are very nice and seem to know what they are doing but they could not resolve my issues and they are not valued when it comes to honoring what they have told the customer. This is a very poorly managed company and the customer suffers because of it.

I've been live for a week now, everything is smooth sailing. Six days from order to live (including porting my number), the voice quality is great (much better than Vonage), all of the features I could ever want are included, and the price is great. I only wish there were more detailed information on the features in the knowledgebase. Other than that, all is well. I will update review in a few months

I have had VOIPO for nearly a year

I have had VOIPO for nearly a year and have had problems every 6-8 weeks. To their credit they did find that my Internet connection did have some problems last year but I upgraded my bandwidth and that issue went away. My two concerns are reliability of the service (I have had to have tweaks done to the configuration serveral times and they switched servers on my as well), and lack of customer support during evenings and weekends. They will schedule time to work with you after hours, but that doesn't help when you don't know that your phone stops working correctly on the weekend or after 6pm CT.
Their forums are good, others apparently do not have the same problems as I have had.

2 years, no problems

I've been a customer for almost 2 years. Voice quality has been good, and I've not experienced any outages. My initial porting took a very long time, but I think that was the outgoing carrier's fault and Voipo provided a temporary number. During the number port I had a couple of chances to deal with their US-based technical support, which was great - the support guys actual treat you like an intelligent human being and solved a couple minor setup issues on the first try.The Voipo control panel software for their many featuresis functional, but the interface is dated and a little clunky. But being able to "blacklist" annoying telemarketers who ignore the do-not-call list is worth the price all by itself

With Voipo for about two months now

I have been a customer with Voipo for about two months now. I am impressed by the number of features they provide for such a reasonable price. the call quality is good, maybe 95 % of the time. on longer calls ( 30 min or more), sometimes the quality will decline, however not to an unacceptable level.
I have had only one instance of echoing , during a call, in these two months of service . I am using this number both for personal and business reasons, as the back-up phone for business.
I also like that I can send faxes for free, only to send , not to receive. very fast customer service , still, only by email , no chat or phone feature ? a live chat will be more personable and probably a needed feature.
this is my third attempt to a VOIP service . I have tried Magic jack - horrible quality, never recommend and Comcast digital voice - good quality and features but really expensive ( at promotion, $20/month + the need to rent an outdated modem - they charge $7/month for a 2006 docs 2 modem, really ?)
all in all , probably the best value proposition in the VOIP arena , in today's market. seriously consider to keep this as the main land line , for the foreseeable feature

I was with Vonage previously and switched to VOIPo and siged up a month and half ago. It was very easy to sign-up, ported my number from Vonage to VOIPo and its almost less than half cheaper that what I was paying previously. Their customer service is great and they have live chat which is very accessible and great and have used it. The number port took 3 weeks from day porting request was made to actual port complete and being active and it was smooth. I am using their SIP account(Beta feature) with my own ATA and its working great. I am so glad I switched and very happy with VOIPo! It has been the best experience of all my VoIP choices so far(I have tried Sunrocket, Lingo, and Vonage)

My service has been very reliable except once I had problem for couple of days due to corrupt adapter. Voipo replaced it quickly with no charge and my service has been stable since then. The features in their vPanel are awesome. I also have international package and my calls to india seem to work fine. Only reason I took out 1 point from ease of setup is due to the fact that my number porting took more than 2 weeks (not sure whether it was due to Voipo or my previous provider). Overall, I am glad I have switched to Voipo and their rate plans are best in the market. The customer service is very friendly and quick. I already recommended Voipo to few of my friends. I have been with VOIPo for a couple of years now. I switched after CallVantage went away. I can say that I have few to NO issues with this service. It works flawlessly and doesn't let me down. You just can't beat the feature set and the pricing. You get all that and flawless quality of service as well. It gets my vote! Don't give it a second thought if you are looking for a provider.

I've been a VOIPo user since I began beta testing the service in February 2007

I've been a VOIPo user since I began beta testing the service in February 2007. I eventually ported over my Packet8 line (a number ported from Vonage). I simply have no complaints. The sevice works, and I do not have to really think about it. Its there when I need it. They do have some cool features like call recording, and caller ID filtering. Even for new users, there are good deals for 1 and 2 year sign-ups. If you think monthly is a safer bet, quiting the yearly plan early will simplycost the monthly price after the 30 day money-back period. In other words, there is no real risk in a long-term sign-up other than saving more money if you stick with it.
For those that like a BYOD setup, they do offer credentials to setup a different device like a soft phone or a different ATA. As for support, BYOD is only a user supported service. The supplied device is the acid test to prove the service works. Even so, many people use alternet devices, or a soft phone to act as a second line in a different location - or while they travel.
VOIPo's biggest weakness is their documentation, and web interface. Nothing is difficult, but it may slow you down discovering all the great things. They are working on both documentation, and an improved web portal, but they both have been a long time coming. VOIPo is great at innovating, but they do take their time trying to ensure new features do not affect the core service. They are not afraid to spend more time and money versus rushing a feature because it would boost sales.
I also understand VOIPo is profitable. It took Vonage a magnatude longer to approach break even. VOIPo has an effective set of plans that work for the customer, and in the business sense. VOIPo will be around a long time! They are growing fast, and their technology scales well to demand.
Although I've beta tested VOIPo, I am simply a long time user, and make no income from my enthusiam. I happily reccomend VOIPo to all considering a plugandplay VoIP service. I began with Vonage in January 2003 (And some experimentation with iConnectHere from Delta3 December 2002.)
My home on the Interenet is DSLReports.com in many forums including the VoIP Tech Chat Forum - be sure to check it out! That is where I first heard of Vonage, Packet8 and many other providers. That is where I learned way back that I could beta test VOIPo. I resisted the VOIPo chatter for many months before giving them a better look. I am so glad I did! It has been the best experience of all my VoIP choices (And I beta tested the Vonage V-Phone too!

I've been with VOIPo since their BETA days (several years), and haven't looked back. The call quality has been close to perfect, and reliability has been great. They continue to come out with new features, and I would recommend them to anyone looking for a VOIP provider.
I know some people have had call quality issues, but from what I've seen, a call to their support can typically resolve these problems in just a few minutes

Their prorate charging policy is unfair, service reps will ignore you if you're no longer a customer

I had a 15 month contract with them. When the 15 months was up, I formally cancelled my account and sent back their phone adapter in the mail. Yet Voipo charged me (on my credit card, whose number they still have on file) a "prorated" rate of $23 for the few days beyond the termination of my account that I still had their adapter. Two points:
1. It's not possible to use a VOIP service - or any service for that matter that involves rented equipment - up until the day the service expires, and return their equipment back to the service provider that very day. There has to be some grace period wherein you're allowed to return equipment without incurring a charge.2. How is $23 a "prorated" charge? First of all, they got their equipment back within 2 weeks of the expiration of my service (I know because I was notified by the postal service). But even if they were charging "prorated" rates by the month, and not parts of a month, they don't even have a residential phone plan that costs $23/month. What kind of made-up amount is that?
And what's even worse is that, now that I'm no longer their customer, they're completely ignoring my email inquiries as to the fairness of this charge. There's nothing that's more of a turn-off than bad customer service and being ignored.
All I have to say is that they're sneaky, very sneaky. Bottomline, you can't trust them..

We're a medium sized business consulting firm (~60 employees) and we have had no issues with Voip.com thus far. Set up was easy, and the features our call center sales team and marketing department get with the system are far better than what we had before. As the guy who runs IT for the company, it's made my job a lot easier than messing with the in-house PBX we had previously.
We get great uptime and have had no issues with call quality either. I'd definitely recommend Voip.com

BroadVoice Has Been Awesome

So here is my review: About a year and a half ago our household still used traditional landline telephone service, and since we didn't seem to be using the house phone very often (everyone in our family has a cell phone), my husband suggested getting rid of the house line all together in order to save money. Maybe I am "old school", but I don't like the idea of not having a landline phone in my house, even if we all do have cell phones. So I made a compromise that I would research broadband phone service and get a plan for us that would allow us to keep our home phone service for a good price. I found this site, and ended up going with Broadvoice. I am glad I did because there is no difference in the call quality or reliability compared to our old traditional phone service, and the cost savings are big for us. After years of frustration with my old phone line, I recently switched to BroadVoice, and I have been very impressed with the quality of the phone calls and the phone bills I have been receiving. I have realized that switching to BroadVoice was a great decision for me during these tough economic times because it saves me a significant amount of money per month. I would recommend it to anyone because not only is the service great, it is also considerably cheaper than other phone options. I currently use it for my home phone and business phone, as I run my business out of my home. it has many features that I did not even know I could get with the standard plan. makes me wonder why I did not switch over sooner

More than gets the job done for home phone service

We finally switched over to Broadvoice for our home phone system and couldn't be happier. We had initially made the switch over from regular telephone service to VoIP about a year ago, but we made the mistake of going with Vonage. With Vonage we struggled with reliability and customer service. Since switching to Broadvoice three months ago, we have been very satisfied with the quality of phone service. We have not experienced any outages up to this point, and when we had a question about a feature, Broadvoice's customer service agent was quick to get it addressed. Definitely recommend them

When this would happen, I would attempt to contact Customer Service and was waiting on hold for 30 min + sometimes, by the time they would answer the service would be back up again and wouldn't get anywhere with support. Sometime I'd just give up after being on hold for so long. After talking with support they only had a few suggestions and wouldn't help out any further. Terrible company, terrible organization. I would never recommend anyone to use them for serivces, it doesn't work! look at the other reviews, their employees have no clue!

Ive been a customer for a few months now and its worked really well for me. I jumped ship from Verizon and escaped my increasingly high phone bill. Now I have no contract and the plan is $19.95. I wish I had done this much sooner. Set up was pretty simple even for a non-techie like myself. The plans come with a lot of features included, my favorite being the failsafe that will forward any calls automatically if your power or internet goes out. Since I do some business on that line I cant afford to miss some calls. You can bring the number you have now for free. Definitely look into it

I signed up about a month before new management took over and at first I would say my experience would mirror those below, but once the change took place it was definitely for the better. Support was atually competent and the guy was real nice. He fixed my problem with minimal time on the phone. It been smooth sailing since then (about4 months now). They added a free second line which is very useful. I'm on the $14.95 plan so compared to other services like Vonage for around $25 it definitely is worth sticking with

Don't use them. They are fine if you don't care whether your number works or not, but if there is a tough problem that needs some resources to solve, they won't do anything to get it resolved. They continue to bill me even though they aren't providing any inbound service. I can't even get them to forward the calls to a working number. This company is awful. I don't even understand how they can stay in business.

Terrible service and ever worse Tech support. Have had to call no less than 10 times to get the same issue resolved. Only gets resolved for a week or so and then there it is again. They act like it is all your fault and there is no urgency to correct the issue. How do you have a personal and small business line with them and it takes from Wednesday to Saturday to correct the issue?

Watch out, they auto renew with no notice and will not return any funds should you want to cancel. You cannot not tell them to cancel auto renew unless you call within 30days of the renewal. This happened to me 2X; we all lead busy lives and one must wait over 20 min on hold to even get through to a rep.

It is a limited service. At first it was unlimited minutes, but after a few months we received first email about crossing the limit and if it happens again we will be a subject to a different plan. Customer service informed us about the imaginary limit when company does not make money. It is false advertising, buyers beware

Treated like a criminal - Phonepower

Paid everything up front and barely used their service. After the two years I had a hard time finding the phone hardware because I hadn't used it in a year (and we moved). When I didn't want to continue with their service things went south. Horrible customer service. I tried to work with them but they were bullies. They wanted their hardware back. Ok, that makes sense. Well, I eventually found the equipment and I told them I found it and would send it in. They still put collectors out for me with annoying daily phone calls even though I TOLD THEM I HAD THE EQUIPMENT. I am self employed and I have never treated anyone like that. Shame shame Phone Power.
The worst part is that they wanted to charge $99.50 for a box that was clearly less than $40 in cost.
Warning to all - don't trust their business practices. They have no concern for anyone but themselves

Substandard quality service, still long way to go - Phone Power

I am having phonepower service currently. I have two different brand cordless set connected to two lines. The call quality is great, however the service is not reliable. I am not very pleased with the interface setting up call forwarding/simultaneous ringing through web interface. Very confusing and not straight forward. I do not want to have a primary phonepower service. I am not going to renew after 2 year service. Almost every month I see phonepower techincal difficulties such as (out of service for 30 mins or cannot dial toll free numbers). I do not like this kinda interruption. Otherwise, I stayed an hour long interview and then stayed hour long outgoing call and recieved long calls all worked backed to back fine with crystal clear call quality. I have downstream(30mbps) and upstream(3mbps) any given point which is exceptionally good for decent call quality. I will go back to viatalk which is more reliable than phonepower. I would not recommend phonepower right at this time, let them polish up their quality and then worth trying

Happy With PhonePower So Far

ISP recommended Broadvoice so I went to the website and selected 1 year pre-pay plan.
However when you get to the ordering page its changes to PhonePower, after reviewing Phone power I decided to proceed anyway.
Equipment arrived in 1 day and was easy to setup but instructions in box do not tell you to put TA in DMZ zone therefore after 20-30 mins of the box flashing and resetting I researched in support and found that you need to put in DMZ to allow unfiltered access to internet. After that the box came up fine and outgoing calls worked.
It only took 3 days for my old number to be ported and I was up and running.
So far I have been impressed with the quality of service and value for Money, even international calls dialed using iPhone app had great call quality. I really cant tell any difference.
Can't believe I have been paying over $50 per month for ATandT landline but needed it for DSL service, but now that I have switched to DSLExtreme's 1Sstream service I can drop the landline. I thinks its criminal that ATandT can charge so much for basic phone service in this day and age with CID/CW but without free long distance or international calling.
Hope PhonePower service keeps on working the way it is and I will be very happy, but not sure if I can pre-pay another year next year for low rate or if it will go to monthly.
Didn't know about 2 year pre-pay until I came to this website, could have saved more, even if you have to pay taxes for 2nd year. Not sure why some people miss this fact and then complain

Poor Service and Up Time - Phone Power

I decided to use VOIP service to handle phone service in three offices located in two cities. I started using Vonage VOIP around 2005-2006. I eventually moved off Vonage to Broadvoice and stayed with Broadvoice from around 2006 until 2013. While on Broadvoice I had 5 VOIP lines on a VOIP PBX system which worked great. Let me emphasize that everything worked fine, I had no complaints. Line configuration was straightforward and Broadvoice tech support was great. However, when I tried to add an additional line, Broadvoice stated their equipment couldn't handle that number of lines and required that I switch all my lines to Phone Power - their parent company. I switched to Phone Power over 6 months ago and am NOT happy. In short, the Phone Power VOIP software is hard to configure and calls are not routed properly. Unlike Broadvoice tech support, Phone Power tech support will not help reconfigure my VOIP PBX system to work with the Phone Power service. The manufacturer and tech support of my PBX says the problem is with the SIP settings - a Phone Power issue. Since switching Phone Power hasn't been able to configure my basic phone lines to consistently work. Call routing on my primary business line has been down now for nearly three weeks - incoming calls go nowhere. I have wasted a lot of time trying to get Phone Power to fix the problem. Additionally, the Fax line is a joke - it doesn't work. When I tried to switch back to Broadvoice from Phone Power I was informed by Broadvoice that it was against Phone Power company policy. I have lost a lot of business and clients because of Phone Power. I am now searching for another VOIP provider

After suffering for four years with ACANAC, I finally took some advice from my brother and moved over to Phone Power. What a difference! The people behind the company can actually speak English and are able to string sentences together that make sense. They are very helpful and all that. But the most important thing is that the quality of the hardware and the system itself is so high that it just blows you away. No one can compete with this. This is the perfect service. Phone Power Works For Me

I got the adapter on Amazon (for free after rebate). It was easy enough to set up and I've enjoyed the service since then. Calls sound clear and my monthly expenditure for phone service is much less than it was with my previous service provider. I use the iPhone to use my home service while I'm out and about (great for calling another country and/or not using cell minutes) I highly recommend them

This is my very first online review but I thought it was worth taking the time to give this company some credit. There are not that many options for inexpensive but reliable service in Canada that could port my home number. When I first signed up for service I had buyer's remorse because I only waited until after ordering to check other people's reviews. There were enough complaints to make me think I made a mistake. I must say that the personable service I have received has been second to none. They have walked me through some of the features (like setting call forwarding rules and the click to call feature) and they tweaked my line because I was getting some initial echoing. I can only guess that those people who are complaining must not have internet service fast enough to handle Voip. Paying up front is a bit of a pain but my justification is that it's like paying 6 months up front with my regular phone company but I'm getting 2 years of service. Not bad at all! Keep up the great work Phone Power. I highly recommend them

Beware of Hidden Costs! Phone Power

Beware of their so-called 2-year plan for "$199.99 or $8.33 per month". What they won't tell you is that the 1 cost, after adding various charges for hardware, PandP, fees and taxes, several of which are not even explained, is closer to $400 or $16.67 per month. Before locking in into a 2-year plan with the risks of losing all your pre-paid funds if the company goes out of existence within the period, I would strongly advise the buyer to check for monthly plans that are more transparent and honest in their pricing process. Ask about all hidden charges and fees and be sure these are justifiable before concluding their plan is cheaper than others based on the listed price alone. Many of the so-called charges and fees are not even explained so you cannot even be sure they are legit but once you have signed on your options become thinner.
You sign on with this Company believing that once you've paid $199.99, you can then relax for the next 24 months and not have to worry about phone bills, right? Wrong! The $199.99 is nothing other than a standard bait-and-switch tactic and the surprises start even before you pay when fees and charges immediately add almost $90 to your first payment. The second year, you are hit with even higher fees and charges, this time with absolutely no explanation or details. Tough luck for your financial planning if you haven't anticipated and planned for this. Sadly, by then you have no option other than a no-refund cancellation and losing all of your second year prepaid expenses

It was extremely easy to set up and was way cheaper than having a second line installed by a conventional telephone company. I will be using the service to make both domestic and international calls with little or no extra cost which is very convenient. I love it. It also has voice mail to email which is great when away from home. It has a E911 registration and even the use of another line without extra cost

Phone Power has become the Gang that couldn't shoot straight

This was a great company. I've had them for several years and we could not have been happier. They were great to deal with, the service was good, and the pricing outstanding. But over the last 5 months, forget it. Tech Support is rude, reliability is bad, and the billing/customer service team truly is the gang that couldn't shoot straight. Tough problem, just cancel! See if we care!
For now, I'd strongly urge you to consider other providers. What a shame

I miss Broadvoice, Phone Power is Horrible! Don't use them yet!

When a company acquires another company, you might think that good things are about to happen, innovation, new features, great customer service, etc.
Well did not happen when PhonePower acquired Broadvoice which I had for 7 years and not intention of going anywhere. However in the past several months Phonepower is making me so angry!! The service now constantly fails, when I call to fix it they always take your number for the Tier 2 to call you back, as if you are always going to be next to the phone when they call. I happened to be out twice when they called and they could not do anything. Every other week the service disrupts, now after messing with my account for 1:32 minutes, they had to call me back. No call for 3 days, not even to say we did not forgot about you. As I called them back, guess what? Ill have to take your number so tier 2 can call you back.
Pathetic phonepower! Pathetic!
As to recommendation, Id suggest you to go with those that have been established for a while at least until PhonePower get their things straight ( or shut down

Good as a Phone Horible as a FAX Line

I've been with PhonePower for the past 1.5 years and it works great as a phone but Ive been trying to use it as a FAX line and had nothing but problems. I have spent numerous hours with their technical support letting them know that i cannot receive faxes, they work on the issue with me which takes about a day or two then fix the problem which comes back within a week or two. They admitted to me that they are aware of the problem with fax and their service so i don't understand how they can keep advertising it. I have 3 fax machines at my office so i know its not an issue with the fax machine itself. They lock you in a contract and if you want to leave or port the phone number to anther company you will get slamed with charges. Find someone more reliable... just switched to e-fax and love it, easy to use and reliable

Great for home phone service

After spending years paying what I believed to be too much for home phone service, I finally took the leap and switched to VoIP. Before switching, I wanted to possibly get rid of my landline all together, but my wife insisted we keep a landline in our home. So far with Phone Power we are spending less than $10 per month per line on 2 lines in our house. It has been very convenient and affordable so far, I would recommend it to anyone that wants the same savings as I have received

Phone Power - After your Money at All Costs

Our Phone Power VOIP phone service has not worked in a year-and-a-half after we logged 50 hours of customer service and technical support calls trying to get it to work. Phone Power refused to let us out of our contract even though they could not deliver on the product we paid to receive. Their customer service policy seems to be "The Customer is Always Wrong" and "Our Company is Always Right." There appears to be no limit to how far they will make the customer go to prove their product is not inferior. We became PhonePower customers in 2009 with a pre-paid 2-year contract of $15 per month. Be aware the fee goes up to $20-30 per month after your contract expires unless you call the month prior to the contract expiring and set up another pre-paid, lower-priced contract. However, this additional extension of the contract proved a mistake for our family. Here is our experience:
Initial set-up of Phone Power VOIP service took 35 hours. Yes, you read that correctly -- 35 hours. Most of those hours were spent online or on the phone with their technical support department. Tech reps continually jimmied this and that and ultimately got it working, but only because I had the time to spend at night on the phone with their technical support team. You may be wondering to yourself: Why on earth would anyone spend that much time on the phone trying to get their VOIP service to work? The answer is simple: Because the company would not let us out of our pre-paid contract. No exceptions. No common sense. No limit to how many hours the company expects you can spend on the phone with their technical support team. It seems that even if the company does NOT provide the service you have paid to receive, you are still on the hook for the full cost of the contract (whether you prepaid the contract or whether you are month-to-month on contracted service their policy is the same.) They are perfectly willing to have a customer spend 35 hours of their time trying to get their product to work rather than to let you out of their contract -- or, shall we note, to take their claws off your money. Their phone service works about 70% of the time, some days it did not work at all. The nightmare truly began when we moved and brought the Phone Power VOIP service with us. For some inexplicable reason, it did not work in the new apartment, even though we brought all the cords up without disconnecting them and we did the "plug and play" route of the same set-up that had previously worked. We spent 15 hours on the phone with Phone Power trying to get it set up, eventually asking to be let out of the contract and again being told that we just needed to spend more time on the phone with customer service and there was no way for us to be let out of our contract (I have since learned there is an early termination fee option, and I advise customers to take it rather than try and deal with this company). Our Phone Power VOIP service has not worked for the past year and a half, and when I called today to again ask for a refund or to be let out of their contract, the supervisor Jessica again told me the company would do nothing and I was stuck. This is their modus operandi. When I asked where I could lodge a complaint about her customer service, I was told in a very snotty tone that "No one is on the floor but me. There is no one else for you to complain to," as though their company has no president or CEO. It appears the technical support team keeps lousy call records, so be sure and keep your own account. Our account record apparently never showed the hours of phone calls we logged trying to set up the service, or the fact that we requested repeatedly to be let out of the contract. I listened in disbelief as the supervisor "Jessica" told me that our technical call record indicated that our troubles were "all resolved" and that "customer was pleased." This was a total fallacy. The technical support team did actually shine today (a rarity) and got my phone service working in just 2.5 hours -- it appears that split wall jacks can severely disable the service, which no one had ever mentioned before this call. At least the remainder of our contract commitment will not be a total waste of money since we will actually have the phone service to use. However, even during these last "successful" 2.5 hours, I had to make three separate tech support calls, and one representative simply hung up on me. When I called back, the tech support record said it was a "dropped call." Yeah, right.
Needless to say, we will not be re-upping our contract next time. We are a bit smarter after this horrid experience! Give Phone Power the BIG MISS if you do not want serious headaches with your phone service. There are undoubtedly honest VOIP providers on the market

It's worked well for me. I liked that I didn't have to buy the adapter and they will always replace it if it ever malfunctions. Do make sure not to cancel your old number before you have it working with Phone Power if you aren't getting a new one. I almost did that and that wouldn't have been good. I did my shopping around before I went with Phone Power and in my opinion, it's hard to beat the price considering all the features included like the second line, mobile apps, and softphone. I can't see how anyone will have landlines before too long now that we are able to use our home service on any device through VOIP. There aren't any long distance charges. I don't call internationally, but they do include some free international calling too

Ive been a customer for over a year now and have been overall very satisfied. I looked around when it came up for my renewal time and didnt see anything worth switching for. Phone Power has good prices, the service works, and plenty of features. Even if you dont want a contract youre still at $20 a month and it goes lower if you want to commit. I signed up with a contract again and wont be leaving anytime soon

worst customer service - and they want $100 for a many years old grandstream 502, which is $40 new from amazon!

I got sucked into prepaying for 2 years. Then, after a year, they say, oh surprise, there are a bunch of fees and taxes that we forgot to tell you about.
So, now the contract is up. They don't offer any decent prices per month, so I start shopping around. Found out about voip.ms! Went on their web site to do the change over.
The phone change over was scheduled for 6/18. So I go on the phone power web site, and cancel service, as of that date. I get an email from their system, with the right date. Then, 2 days later, I get an email saying your service has been cancelled! 10 days early.
Plus the email says they want that old grandstream device or they will charge me $100! This old used beat up device is not worth $10!
So I started emailing them. I mailed billing first, and referenced the cancellation number. After a week, no reply I started emailing sales and support, with the cancellation number. I never got a single response from any one.
These clowns setup their email so they explicitly ignore emails about cancellations, is what I was told when I was finally forced to call their inept billing people. All I wanted was to trade the 10 days of no phone, for the old cruddy used ATA adapter. No sir. No way. They will charge $100! They said no. They'd rather have a pissed off customer, than give up their old used ATA adapter. If I fight it with credit card company, they will show them the terms of service contract, and I'll be screwed. Boy am I tempted to stay and fight! But I just went to amazon, and ordered a brand new device and had it sent right to them, with the rma # in place.
FORGET phone power. voip.ms has no monthly service charges period. They charge 1.05 cents per minute, for north america, and not much more for international. So even if we ever used 1000 minutes in a month, that would only be $10! We never come close

PhonePower flops in the middle of the sale!!

I was very impressed with PHONEPOWER.com. As I was browsing through their website (comparing them to other business providers), reviewing their features and services, I decided it was time to put them at the top of the list. However, when it came time for me to pull the trigger, they flopped miserably. I called and spoke to an inside sales person and she was lovely and informative. I asked her for a follow up call the following Tuesday indicating my interest in procuring services and never heard from anyone.
I spent the next week having my research assts study blogs and comparing their service satisfaction levels. A week later I sent two emails three days apart stating our strong desire to speak with someone. NO response on either email.
I called personally (rather agitated) and spoke to a nice young lady and asked for the VP of Sales. She acted as if he was the Chairman and a little too insulated to speak to potential business clients. She insisted that I send an email and they would track the email address of previous attempts (as they apparently keep track of them) and they would, this time, most certainly get back with me. That was over a week ago! I never heard from them again despite conducting myself professionally at all times as I really wanted to work with them.
Why a company would be so incompetent in taking on a business account worth nine phones to start (and perhaps hundreds of lines with a new start up in six months) is beyond my comprehension in this economic environment. If a company cannot take your money when you are throwing it at them, it gives me great pause and what kind of service level they have once your money is in their bank account, especially considering I am paying 100% for two years worth of services up front.
Their VP of sales should be terminated, simple as that. He/she is responsible for setting the tone of the companys desire for new net-add revenue and there is NO excuse whatsoever. He got the message and he failed to delegate or take responsibility. I have now wasted 15 man hours getting there and have to start over.
Simply amazing. I wish them well in any case

I've been referring them and getting the $10 referral credits for a while now. (Just have to give the other person your username or phone number) I do pay monthly instead of prepay so that brings my bill to under $10 some months. They've changed the website a bit from when I signed up and I feel like its a little harder to navigate now, but they have also added more features. Customer service is actually in the US so if you call they are pretty helpful

Yeah I wasn't real thrilled about being down for part of a day either, but given that I pay $14 a month for phone service and it's the first time I've been out in 2 and a half years of good service, I'm not going to make a huge deal about it. My internet service has gone out more than that. I called in afterwards and it was resolved to my satisfaction

Phone Power: Two Major Outages

We switched our business to PhonePower about 7 months ago, and we've experienced poor sound quality along withtwo MAJOR outages. Both times they have had outages, PhonePower has had no phones themselves,no website, andno message to clients about the situation.... nothing.
This seems to be a business run out of someone's garage with a single server and with very, very poor reliability

I have used VOIP phones for years. I used Sunpower until they went TU. Then I got PhonePower. I was using Quest phoneservice and dialup internet. I switched to cable broadband and VOIP and saved cash -- better all the way around. However, I've not found VOIP without it's problems. It does require a 2 year pre-payment, which I lost part of to Sunpower's demise. The phone quality isn't stellar by any stretch, but still serves as a phone though. I'm uncertain to the 911 functions as we've never had to call -- knock on wood. I wouldn't totally rely on it thoughy.
\When I switched to Phonepower they wouldn't change my caller ID name to my name, because they said I didn't have proof that I owned it, though it was our number for 2 years with Sunpower. So when I call people they look at the caller ID and it says Mohamid Khan -- my real name is more like Dan T. Oh well, it got to be a joke after awhile. SO, if you like to get cheap, mediocre and somewhat undependable phone service under the wrong name -- Phonepower is the place for you. HOWEVER, if you want to shoot more for something cheap, yet dependable -- keep on looking. And post it when you find it and I'll go there two

In Canada: awesome features set, so-so routing and support

Last year, I took the plunge and switched from a big local telephony provider to a web-based VoIP provider: Phone Power.Their features set is quite something: free second line, voicemails to email, some free international minutes, etc.But, when it comes to routing local calls, they are so-so.
I live in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Many local agencies and companies have 1-800 numbers that are geolocation-locked; you cant call those numbers from outside Canada, or outside Quebec (depending). How they detect the origin of the call is not based on the caller ID (the callers phone number); it has to do with how the call is routed, i.e. where its coming from for real.
Now, the problem is not that Phone Power isnt technically capable of routing those calls correctly, since I have been able to call those numbers on multiple occasions. The problem is that they are unable to keep routing consistent. The result is that those calls will only work sometimes, and will sometimes fail. And, when its not working, and you call/chat support to fix it, they dont know how to resolve the situation. Sometimes, after 20-30 minutes of back and forth, they are able to make those calls go through. Other times, they cant fix it, and answer that theyll investigate further, and contact me later when they found something.
Heres a timeline of my (10+) contacts with support regarding this:
2011-08-17Me: I cant connect to the following number: 1-800-361-3977 Would it help if my voip phone number was a canadian phone number maybe ?Support: Possibly. Likely. Though youd need to speak with billing for the logistics of that.
2011-09-26Me: Trying to dial [a 1-866 number], its telling me that number cant be reached from my calling area.Support: Basically i tried forcing the call through all of the providers i have available to me and i get the same message from them all. Call the bank and see if they allow inbound calls from outside canada.
2011-09-27Me: Michael called me today regarding a problem Im having with 1-866 numbers.Support (after 1+ hour of back and forth): Can you dial one more time plaese?Me: yes, its ringing! Bingo!!Support We will be calling you back because we do not want this issue to happen to you or an other customer. I will currently leave it on for now. They might be changing it to test it on our end.
2011-09-28Support: This is a follow up email regarding the ticket you recently opened with us about dialing toll free numbers in Canada. While we do bill calls to Canada at a domestic rate, the call features recognize Canadian numbers as International in nature (as we are an American based company). So with International dialing blocked, it would not permit you to call such numbers.Me: [...] it seems like it only partially block Canadian numbers Because I can call local Canadian numbers without a problem with the setting On. It only prevents me from being able to call some Canadian 1-800 numbers
2011-09-29Me: Returning the call from Dude. He asked to call back if my 1-866 calls failed again. They do. it worked fine at the end of the chat session on the 27th, but now they are failing again.Support: Please try calling again and let me know what happens now.Me: Its working. All of them seems to work again now.Support: We are still going to need to work on this issue to get it fully resolved. We will contact you once we have an update.

Phone Power: Customer service is HORRIBLE

Your service works for approximately 50% of the time for calls and faxing 5% success rate. Reception is iffy-fading in and out. Technical Support does not follow through and fix problems they simply call and close the ticket after the call.
Using your phone while out of your home-forget it. I left for 3 months and had people trying to call in and never getting in. Finally I just used my cell phone as the primary as Phone Power was useless. Very bad if your doing business and expecting calls.
Resolving chronic problems in not Phone Powers subject of expertise. They get offended and simply close the ticket and call the problem solved. And then you go on having problems and they wonder why your still calling? and not cooperating??

Phone Power: sweet support but no Android app

I have had the service roughly 2 years. When I first signed up I had trouble getting the service to work. I contacted support and talk to one of the lower techs who then escalated me to a tier 2 guy. He was able to help me get my the issues resolved. Apparently something with my router was causing problems with the VoIP service. This was pretty sweet considering I ported my number from Vonage and last time I had an issue they told me the only thing they could do was bypass the router.
At first the features seemed slick and more advanced than I would ever need. I started to lean on the service more and my desire for schedule based rules and more expansive call screening has become essential. The fact that they seem to cator to the iPhone community and pushed Android users to the way side has been a little frustrating also. It has been pretty good I don't have any other complaints other than their support hours seemed to have narrowed. Hopefully they get their Android app rolling soon I am tired of using some 3rd party app on my phone

I purchased a plan from Power Phone in early 2011. By purchasing my own equipment and prepaying the first year, I was supposed to get the second year free. At the beginning of what should have been my free year, a $25.24 charge showed up on my credit card. When I inquired with Power Phone, I was told that I had a different plan and that was that.
The phone service is OK, but their "deal" is clearly bait and switch. This is not a trustworthy company. Good luck getting them to honor their agreements. I am going back to Vonage. They were honest.

Buyer Beware.
I recently changed providers and right before my number was ported I got billed another full month by Phone Power. They will not refund any portion of the mostly unused month. A company that is willing to take a customer's money while not providing the service for which they billed is dishonest in my opinion and not worth dealing with

Joined phone power 3 years ago after all the rave reviews. We had high hopes and wanted to stop verizon tyranny. But: 0) I make most my calls to #'s with skype and pay them $3/mo. I am always at the computer and quality is a lot better.
1) Although it is supposed to be $200 for 2 years, you pay $160 in Los Angeles for extra fees, taxes etc for the two years. They charge half of the 160 each year so it feels less painful. When you add the numbers, you are paying half of what you paid for a landline, except poor sound quality and unreliable service. You are also paying for cable service as DSL will not work with this. 2) My brother had to chat and call and spend numerous hours on the phone with their crappy tech support simply because they would not admit their service does not work with DSL. You need better data pipeline thru a cable connection. He got cable and it worked!! and they never acknowledged the issue.
3) They begin charging you $30/mo without telling you when the two yr pan is over. You can get the same $199/2yr plan again but they dont tell you. The emails then send talk about upgrading to $14 plans. We did that
4) We paid and realized after a few months we were getting charged $9 of fees and basically something close to a landline. You dont get paper bills or emails, so this goes on for a while before you notice. I had to chat w them a few times to learn you can get the same initial plan again. only took a year!
5) Audio quality and service reliability does not f'g compare to a landline. With landline, you also have a dedicated service in case of emergency. andnbsp

Watch out! Their 2-year contract continues at a much higher monthly rate unless you notify them in writing that you want to quit. I ported my phone number over to VOIPo 2 weeks before the end of the contract, thinking that constituted "notification". The next month I found a charge against my credit card. When I questioned it, they said porting the number wasn't "written notification" and refused to reverse the charge. Not only did I not use their service during that month, I couldn't have even if I'd wanted to since my number had been ported 2 weeks earlier

The answer to "What's not to like?" is the call QUALITY. I can't tell you how many phone messages we've received that are totally inaudible! We don't even understand who the caller is or the number they left! This is unacceptable! It's just a garbled mess. Again, this is not the caller's cell phone, this is PP. This NEVER happened with ATT.
Also we know these garbled messages are not from cell phones calling from bad areas because often they are from a friend's home phone or from an institutions such as a bank or service company.
We have had numerous instances of making a call to someone and having to call them back again because the quality is not just bad, it's so bad you can't even understand what the other person is saying and/or vice versa.
Now, I hear the pro-PP people saying "It must be your service!" Well, we have Magic Jack and we never have these issues with Magic Jack! Magic Jack has its own set of problems - like a lack of features - which is why we bought PP.
Also these problems of poor call quality are not when I am downloading music or streaming Netflix. They often happen when my computer is OFF.
Tech Support:
I have to say that the tech support has been very easy to reach and very responsive. HOWEVER that means little when after spending HOURS of my time with them trying to resolve the problem, the phone still does not offer quality calls!
They did test after test, adjustment after adjustment, and still I get LOUSY call quality!
The latest - after I told them I am just going to have to cancel my service - is that they say it's my ISP's problem! Hmmm. Sorry, I don't buy it. I get great upload and download numbers via my ATT DSL and PhonePower's own tests show that my "MOS" # based on the site they sent me to test my connection, is always showing good numbers even according to PP's own techs. Now suddenly it is my ISP's problem? I don't think so. If so, then why is the quality using Magic Jack so much better??? Huh?
So okay, if PhonePower works for you, great, go for it! I'm just here to point out the truth that it doesn't work for everyone, that in our case, it is of unacceptable call quality and the features such as call waiting are hit and miss - sometimes it doesn't work.
All in all I cannot recommend it to others. I am currently looking for a better alternative. If I have to I'll give up on VOIP and go back to ATT or Verizon but I certainly hope I can find a VOIP service that works as well as MagicJack but has at least some of the features of PP. The one feature Magic Jack is missing is automatic forwarding to a cell phone or other phone in case of internet outage. If they had that I'd try MagicJack Plus. But they don't

I have been a happy user of Phone Power for over 2 years. I ported two existing land numbers (in different states and area codes) and take advantage of the many features Phone Power offers such as: Convenient call forwarding; caller ID, call log, call blocking, and etc. It is easy to move the system between the two locations I frequent and to forward calls to my backup cell phone while on the road. Sound quality is excellent, easily exceeding my old land lines. I have successfully encouraged several friends to make the switch

I had this service for the full contract and it didn't matter because I didn't do many faxes. When it came to switch services because they jacked the rate so high my extra troubles started. They required I return the device (2 years old-what do they need it for?) Costs more to ship it than it's worth. Fax was very unreliable. My VOIPO faxes always go through.Their customer service is inflexible. They just keep stating our service agreement states this and that and blah blah blah

I attempted to sign up with these people since they indicate on their website that you can BYOD and also use SIP credentials. In fact they have spammed forums trying to drum up business by making threads about allowing SIP credentials to be used. Well, yes and no, they want you to provision a device on "their list" first before they will allow that. I will not have my time wasted playing around with a device that I never intend to use, this is ridiculous and accomplishes nothing. That Jessica there that sends the emails and answers the phones has a really nasty attitude, and seemed to be quite happy that I would take my business elsewhere

The obvious perk to Phone Power is the price since its much cheaper than a landline alternative as well as many other voip providers. I've had it for a year and half and its been a great service. They've been around since 2005 so I feel pretty good about them not going anywhere. Plenty of features and they throw in a second free line. I won't be switching to anyone else anytime soon

Overall I'd say the service is a good deal. I'm dissapointed theres no blackberry app yet though as that would be very useful for me. At least there is a promise of one. I've had it for 9 months and there have been no blips or outages. It was a breeze to set up. They do keep putting out new features on a pretty regular basis so I'll be looking forward to further improvements on what is already a solid service so far for me

Phone Power Review: No tweaks and failsafe.

I got two numbers with them and chose to just have them on the same device. The set up was straight forward enough. I didnt have to tweak anything and I havent had any quality issues. The only thing that would happen was when my crappy Time Warner service would fail then the phone obviously would not be working as well, but at least the failsafe feature kicked in and I got the calls on my cell. Ive since switched to ATT DSL and its been worlds better. Just make sure your internet is solid. Soooo very thankful that they have all US support. I picked the cheapest plan for $15. Once you get the service you have more plan options too when you look in your account page. I use a second line for fax so as the sales rep suggested, I started on the monthly no contract plan and then switched to their metered option ($8/mo, but any outbound calls are 4 cents a min) Its perfect for a fax line or low usage line though.

Ive had the service for over a year now and have been very happy. I got a new number and when I was sure it was working for me (about three months down the line) I had my landline cancelled and the number transferred.The transfer was very smooth.It is definitely a savings at $20 a month at most (if you dont want a contract). Cheaper if you do decide to. I recently added a virtual number for five bucks extra. It just rings on my main line but lets you have two phone numbers for cheap

Since the price was so low I kind of expected problems, but surprisingly its worked just as well as my full price landline did. Not knowing a lot about how VOIP works, I wasnt sure if them being in located on the west coast would be a problem since Im in NJ, but apparently alot of their customers are on the east coast so I went for it and transferred my number. Phone Power Review - Until Recently, The Best Around in VoIP, But No Longer!

Until recently, I would have never dreamed of chastising this company, but their service and support is now heading down the tubes at flank speed. Unfortunately, call hold times to get to speak to customer service or tech support have become prohibitive. Half hour to an hour PLUS any time any day of the week, NOT GOOD!!! On 2 occasions over the past 2 1/2 years I've been a Phonepower subscriber, my voice mails and faxes mysteriously disappeared from my online account info. Went through hours of phone calls to find out what the heck happened. Still no resolution on the 2nd go around as I write this and I'm getting VERY FRUSTRATED. As I write this review, my voice mail password all of a sudden doesn't work and blocked numbers are getting through. Over THREE hours on the phone alone this morning including hold times and I get a guy who sounded like he was either stoned or just got out of bed.
One nice feature they offer is the ability to have a blocked call list and have those calls go to voice mail or a busy signal, a handy tool for stopping annoying collection agency calls and the like DEAD in their tracks. Although you can have up to 50 numbers on that list, there's no indication on the site that there's a 50 number limit. The system allows you to enter more than 50 numbers with NO WARNING INDICATION that you've gone above the 50 number limit and numbers you enter beyond 50 limit will still get through. This is something I've been complaining about for the last 2 years. Despite the fact that whomever I talk to in tech support agrees this is a flaw in the design of the Phonepower website and they'll alert the web masters, after all this time, THEY'VE STILL DONE NOTHING ABOUT IT!
The insane call hold times are now the main reason I no longer recommend Phonepower as I used to ...... to everyone I know. As they've grown, they have not added customer service reps to handle the increase in subscribers, and like most businesses, are going all out to cut costs, AT THE CUSTOMER'S EXPENSE, AND IT NOW SHOWS!
Bottom Line: A service that started off great and was so for over 2 years, but now has all the signs of going downhill, FAST

I wish I had known about VOIP while I was shelling out 50 bucks a month for landline service. Surprisingly, the switch went smoothly ( I was a little worried about that) and I got to keep my number. I'm happy with my choice of Phone Power. Took a little over a week to be fully set which I think is pretty standard if your keeping a number. Service has been steady and I'm enjoying paying a fraction (14.95 plan) of what I was paying before

I would recommend this service based on a stable adapter, provisions and stays active. do not have to reboot every other day... calls are dialed instantly and

Finally customer service in the U.S.! I was so glad to hear that when I called. I didn't have to spend a lot of time on the phone with them since they clearly explained the answers to any of my questions. I give them a big thumbs up on their technical support. I had an agent walk me through the set up, which actually turned out to be pretty easy. Great price, helpful support, and my service has been steadily reliable. Also echoing other customers that are happy to be able to utilize that cloned second line feature to have a couple calls going at once. I like to spread the word when I find a reliable company and will be referring my friends to take advantage of the $10 refer a friend credit.

If you use Phone Power without a router, you might be a satisfied customer, but if you have to use one like me, you will find yourself calling customer service all the time: The 1st time I called, they told me that there was an IP conflict between my main computer and the Phone power box (I had T-Mobile @home for 2 years with the same config and never had this kind of issue): We stayed on the phone for about 25 min and they "solved" the pb. 3 days later the service was down. When I called 2 weeks later because of no time, they told me that my phone device is not getting enough power from the wall!! (again, I had T-Mobile @home for 2 years with the same config and same phone device and never had this kind of issue): I change the location of my phone unit and the pb was solved. 3 days later the service was down. I called them today and they told me (with an aggressive and unhappy tone) that my IP keep changing, that's why I keep having problems. Of course my IP is supposed to change all the time since I do not pay for a static IP from my internet provider. Unless you are running a server I do not see why you will need a static IP. I am waiting for someone to call me, waste my time and have the service down in a couple of days.I have been with this company for 5 months now and my phone has been down 25 days per month. Unfortunately I signed up for a one year contract. At this point, I think I'm going to break the contract and go to another provide

I ordered Phone Power for a few months. It seemed like outages would keep happening almost on a daily basis by the time I cancelled my account. I could never trust the phone to stay working. Got stuck in an emergency room and couldn't call home as they had another outage. If they could fix their actual downtime (not what they post) it would be a good company. Don't try and contact them during an outage, their webbased communications would shut down before you got to them, and surprisingly their tech support answering machine was full and wouldn't take messages. Not what I wanted in a company

I'm not very tech savvy, but the customer service reps patiently explained to me what I needed to know and I'm happy I made the switch from my old company. I started month to month on the $19.95 rate to see if I liked it, which was still cheaper than what I was paying before, but then switched to their 2 year contract plan for $14.95 once I was very pleased with the service and features. I don't use fax that often, but sometimes I do need to receive one and was very pleased that someone could send it to my Phone Power voicemail and have a copy sent to my email as well. Clear call quality is a plus too

I've been VoIPing for the past 3 years. I started with Vonage. Great program but still costly. I signed up for Phone Power about 8 months ago. Initially I had some issues getting started but the staff there was really helpful and knowledgeable. I was also happy to realize that they all spoke english. Nothing was lost in translation. What a pleasent surprise. The price of course is excellent. I signed up for the 1 year plan and have been satisfied ever since. Tons of features and I dont' have to pay extra. The hardward they send out (grandstream) is small, compact, and has worked great. I would love to get the travel adapter they have (their own version of the Magic Jack...). It was a good move to Phone Power. Just wanted to spread the word... Good company

Been trying to save money the right way. I need a landline for work... couldn't just use the cell anymore. This looked like the right choice. I was right. the price is great. I signed up for the month to month to start. sound quality was good(i was a little worried). No problems. Signed up for the 2 year deal. love the features. voice mail to email is awesome. tech support was helpful and intelligent (pleasent surprise), and cheap international calling is a plus. I love the service... and so does my wallet! :

They were cool on the phone but it still took about 20 minutes to get everything ready. No problems so far. I signed up for the 1 yr plan... gonna wait a couple more weeks to see if i want to upgrade to the 2 year. I like the features, and the travel adapter works great on my laptop. Ported phone number from Vonage to Phone Power

Ported phone number from Vonage. Purchased device from Best Buy. The package came with Home adapter and USB portable adapter. Took about 10 days to port phone number from Vonage. Then called Vonage and cancelled service. Sound quality seem goods. Time will tell.
Dealing with customer service has ben great.
Sound quality is fine. No complaints.
Price is very good. One of the lowest. Did the yearly plan. Second year you must pay taxes, after the first year.
Reliablilty. Too soon to tell.
Nice set of features. Did like the voice mail to e-mail that vonage offered. Thats the only reason it didn't get 5/5. I'll update in the future.

Great VoIPAfter reading some of the negative comment I thought I would tell you of my experience with them. A little less than 2 years ago (roughly, I believe) my first VoIP went out of business. While I loved their service, I lost some money with them. Fearing the same would happen with PhonePower, we initally signed up (using one of their promotions) for a few months. We wanted to check their service, use the features and decide if we want to prepay for an entire year. Well, my wife and I our on our 2nd annual agreement with them. The phone quality is great (we have Cox and use their Premier Service with PowerBoost, upload @ 20Mbps and download @ 2Mbps). What sets them apart for us is their web site. Not only do we get/have all the features you would expect a phone service to have in today's world but thy also provide us the luxury to go online and listen to our voice mail (either through their web site or in your email's inbox). My parents have Vonage, my sister has T-Mobile's Call at Home (or whatever it is called) and when compared to PhonePower neither offers the features and price that I get with PhonePower. Besides, I think they are running a special now, prepay the first year and get the second year for free (I am not eligible for it because I was an exsisting customer). You can also get a $30 rebate if you go to voip-rebates.net. How can you go wrong? $220 for 24 months

Former ATandT Calvantage CustomerI've been with ATandT Callvantage for at least two years, and only changed because they were canceling their service. This review will cover only the transition from ATandT, since quite frankly I haven't been with Phone Power long enough to judge reliabilty. My main concern was that I was transferring two different phone numbers with ATandT, and they were important numbers not to loose. My fear was that the primary number would be transferred and the secondary number lost. Since the wife uses the secondary number, that would have been very bad for me! To avoid any problems I placed the order over the phone, instead of on-line. The process was quick and courteous, and I have no complaints about that whatsoever. First rate. I then started to receive a serious of emails, a total of at least five, keeping me advised as to the progress. I became concerned when one of the follow up emails didn't mention the second phone number. After waiting several hours for another email mentioning that number, I contacted customer service. The first attempt to reach them by phone resulted in a wait, so I sent an email instead. It was answered a short time later indicating everything was okay, and after that I received the second email I was waiting for. I'm not sure there was a mistake on the second number, but their process kept me well informed and perhaps helped prevent one. A bit later the VOIP device arrived. It's rather tiny compared to other VOID devices I've seen, but I plugged it in and everything fired up fine. The device claims it takes up to 15 minutes to boot the first time, but I didn't check that. It did pass through traffic to my router almost immediately. A few hours later and I checked the two phone lines, and they both worked (outgoing only at that point). I also set up the various service settings using the website, so that when the service was transferred, everything would be operational. When the transfer of service day did arrive, it happened right on schedule and without incident. In the morning everything was going through ATandT, and by noon everything was going through Phone Power. Call quality seems just as good as ATandT, which is rather good. There are two things I'm very happy with in the change over. First, the Phone Power website is much better than what ATandT's site was. Second, when I'm answering the phone I no longer have to hit "1" to have it know that's the line I want to pick up on. That was perhaps something ATandT did only when you had it ring multiple phones simultaneously, but since that's how I always have it ring, that was annoying. Anyway, so far, soooo good. Very happy with the changeover

Phone Power voip service is Great / ButI really enjoyed the service, when I received it and saw how easy it was to hook up and it was very Clear. I am very dissatisfied with the features, you can't more than one feature at a time. If I use call blocking for in coming, then I can not use call blocking to block my incoming. I was told there is a glitch in their system.. Their system features conflicts with each other. This is the only reason I am looking to discontinue my service, I had no problem with my features with other companies

Great Phone CompanyI've used several VOIP providers in the past and this one has been the best so far. I loved Sun Rocket and after they went out of business, tried one that didn't end up being very good. Signing up with Phone Power has been a pleasant surprise. My order was processed quickly, the equipment came soon thereafter and I had no problems installing it. I am very pleased with the quality of the phone lines and all the features that are offered. So far, so good! I highlt recommend Phone Power

PHONEPOWER OFFERS GOOD VALUE AND DECENT SERVICE

I've had PhonePower for a little over half a year, and I am pleased with my choice. There are some potential issues you need to be aware of, though: Setup was challenging, at least for mewithout constant help from tech support I dont think I could have managed it. I had to access the setup menu of the modem via computer in order to configure it properly for my particular IP. Just getting into the online menu of the modem was tricky because I have a router that uses the same IP address for administrative tasks. Don't be scared, but be willing to spend at least an hour or so to iron out the kinks. Some users will probably be able to just plug it in and start dialing, as one can assume that the default settings of the PhonePower modem are designed to conform to the broadest range of customers. Be aware that you will need a backup phone while you port over to this service, as you may need to call their tech support during setup. If PhonePower suddenly becomes your only means of contact with the outside world while you're still just setting it up, then you're up the creek without a paddle. Generally speaking, when you hear a dial tone, you know you're good to go--not so with PhonePower. The dial tone is a 0 one, since it is automatically generated by the modem itself. The dial tone on the PhonePower modem simply means, "Okay, go ahead and dial, and I'll see if we can connect." If you don't believe me, pick up the receiver without connecting the modem to the internet. You'll hear a dial tone, even though there's no way you can dial out. Kind of silly, if you ask me. Porting over my old phone number took longer than I thought it would, but this isn't necessarily the fault of PhonePower, since porting requires the cooperation of my old phone company, which was probably less than pleased to see me go. On the plus side, though, I was still able to dial out with my new PhonePower line while waiting for the old number to port, it's just that anybody dialing in to my old number couldn't reach me for about a week. There are two minor flaws with the hardware (meaning the phone modem): 1) The dial tone expires quickly, so you better know what number you're dialing as soon as you pick up the receiver, or you'll have to hang up and try it again. 2) As has been discussed in many other PhonePower reviews, the volume level is too high. Sometimes I have to actually hold the receiver an inch or two away from my ear to keep from hurting my eardrum. I signed up for the 2-year prepaid plan, with the second year free. They don't really tell you what you'll end up paying with this plan, since the taxes included in the price are only for the first year, but I've calculated it out to be $291.61 total for TWO YEARS SERVICE, including taxes and delivery. Assuming this number is correct, this would work out to $12.15 per month for a total of 24 monthsbut its prepaid, so youre not charged by the month. I only mention the figure as a basis for comparison to other plans out there. After 24 months, of course, your account would revert back to their standard rate, currently (as of this writing on 22 July 2009) at $19.95/month ($23.40 with tax) on a month-to-month or $16.95/month ($20.18 with tax) with a 12-month commitment. The prepaid plan is only good for two years, but it's still the best deal going, unless you want to count SKYPE, which is not nearly as reliable as this service is. I asked PhonePower why I couldnt renew on the two-year prepaid plan, and they said that they make very little money on the prepaid plan, so it has to end by a certain time. Given how low the price is, one can hardly blame them. Call quality is on par with any other VOIP out there. But for the increased volume, there really is no discernable difference between a PhonePower call and any conventional landline. Using the account features, I've been able to block unwanted calls from those pesky telemarketers, even that sleazy company that tries to sell extended car warranties. It's nice to have that online filter, since it still allows people I know to call me without any problem. Anonymous callers with no caller I.D. get a busy signal. Yay! I have experienced some echo problems on very rare occasions, but this can be caused by many different factors that are beyond PhonePower's control. Don't make any operator assisted calls unless you're willing to pay an extra $3/call (but this feature can be disabled). Overall I'd give them a solid B++ rating. They get an A+ for price and overall value. Truly, if you want the most bang for your buck, there's no better service out there

Just switched from voip.com -- their 2yr-for-1 was very enticing. The setup was very easy, the sound quality very good. I seen a review about the volume setting of the ATA being too high -- I agree with that assessment; however, it is a very minor issue. I would recommend PhonePower to anyone

Great Service @ Affordable PriceI 'm going to post my whole review after this little blurb. First I have been in the computer field since I was a teenager and am 29 now. Before making your mind up whether to get PhonePower based on the mixed reviews\horror stories? Think about this saying "There are two sides to every story and somewhere in the middle you will find the truth?". With any service that goes over the internet there are going to be hiccups. In a perfect world the internet would be perfect eg. ISPs would clear congestion immediately on their networks, servers would not crash, there would not be any mis-communication, people would meet each other in the middle over disagreements. Since this is NOT A PERFECT world and s#$t does happen, it takes alot less effort to smear a company on the internet then it does to work with them. Before you order PhonePower take the time and do some preparation. A good place to start is by running this test a few times spread out over 24 hours. http://speedtest.phonepower.com/repeat.html If you need some help interpreting and\or unsure about the results give them a call. Most people would agree taking 10-15 minutes to help ensure trouble free service is alot better then porting your number, then b!@#ching that PhonePower, ISP, etc. screwed you over? Next VoIp is NOT perfect! I will repeat NOT PERFECT! If you ISP is experiencing packet loss, jitter, congestion, your call(s) may sound like s@#t? There is generally not much that can be done about this? For instance out of hundreds of calls we make a month, we might get one that has a slight echo. Granted our ISP is not the best but is certainly not the worst. Lastly, remember why you are switching to VoIp? TO SAVE $$$... It usually is a trade off between quality of service vs. cost and features. Will Verizon give you Caller ID, Call Waiting, Voice mail, 5,000 long distance minutes, plus the ones in the link below for 20.00 or less? My number was ported without any problems; in fact Verizon hit the button within an hour of getting my device. Hooked up my device to my Linksys WRT54G and my voice had a 5 second lag and was choppy. Tech support called me back 3-5 times after being disconnected and trying different options. The DDWRT firmware showed that I was using 70kbps of upstream bandwidth? After giving up on phone support simply because I was so frustrated because it was so time consuming I decided to see if someone on Live Chat could help me. Well I decided to re-group my thoughts and started out by asking him if anyone had problems with the Linksys WRT54G. In fact they had and he said it had to do with the SPI setting not turning off. I remembered turning it off before but nothing happened. So Im like what the hell Im going to give it another shot. That made all the difference! To give back to the community I made some screen shots to show people my setup with a Westell 2200 in bridge mode. Just follow them and you will be good to go. Couldnt be much better
I read a lot reviews, and waited 3 months before getting my first VOIP system. I have had this new PhonePower.com system connected for 4 days, and it is perfect so far.
I use a SMC Router directly connected to a standard 5 meg Charter supplied cable modem. I ordered the HT502 VOIP adapter from PhonePower, which was free except for $14.95 shipping and handeling. (a bit high, but I suspect it pays for the unit also)
Ignoring the instructions I connected the adapter to an available port on my router. I plugged in a spare phone to the adapter and connected its power supply. I waited till the green lights showed up, picked up the phone and it just plain worked! I did some test calls... sound quality was perfect... not good, I mean perfect. Identical to the ATandT line.
By connecting the adapter downstream from the router I did not have to disturb the existing5 computers I have connected to it.(8 port router). I considered this a huge bonus, as I had planned on an afternoon of resetting, and sorting out IP address issues. As it turns out I did not put a rating in for their tech support above, because I've never talked to them since it worked right out of the box!
With the taxes, shipping, fees, etc... my total charge was (advertised at $199) $253.26 for 24 months of unlimited service... thats still only works out to be $10.55/month.
Lessons Learned that might help others:
1. Order whatever the companies recommended adaptor is. DONT try to use an existing one... unless you can verify you have an exactmatching model andfirmware levelwith customer support in advance.
2. Order the transfer of your current phone number to be at least 10 days in the future. This way, there is time for the adaptor to arrive and you can set it up immediately and test outgoing callsand has good quality with your setup BEFORE the phone company transfers your number. This will give you a little cushion to resolve any issues. Then when the transfer day comes you just need to attach the primary house line and you are done. If they connection cannot be resolved you can call your existing phone company and cancel the number transfer. andnbsp

I have been using them as my office phone system for 5 months now and would not recomend it to anybody at all.
Their system is a mess. I am unable to set up my attendant because they have 'an issue' that they are aware of and supposedly have been working on for 19 days. They steal 30 minutes of my workday EVERY DAY: I can't set my phone to work from 8-5! It has to be 8:30-5!
Yet they are pissed that I keep calling every week to ask why it's not fixed.
When I was porting my number they assured there will be no outgage - my phone was a dead line for 6 hours.
They introduce new featuers every month so it looks good in comparison to other providers but they don't care if they work or not.
The supervisor of development department doesn't seem to see it as a problem.
They advertise it as unlimited, but it is not - you get 5000 minutes and I'm getting close to the limit. Issues I had with them: Auto Attendant: Hours can't be specified from 8-5: NOT FIXED (19 days now)
Scheduled Overide: Buggy can't set up 'on call' system for my company: NOT FIXED
Call Log: Stopped working one day: FIXED
Random Erros on Web Page: NEW! just started appearing, didn't have time to call them: NOT FIXED Somtimes I think with sentiment about back when I had Embarq and just pressed *72 to transfer the phone when I left the office. At least it worked and I didn't need a team of developers fixing it every day.

Phone Power - great price and excellent phone service
We have used Phone Power since December of 2008 (over 4 months now). It is all good. The price is exceptional. Sound quality of calls is excellent. We can't think of any negatives to the change. We get super phone service (with all the features the typical user could want)for a very fair price. Set up was trivial: take the adaptor out of the box, connect it, start making calls. The web interface works fine for setting up speed dials, etc. Our one call to technical support wasn't even for tech support but was answered quickly, helpfully, and politely. We would recommend that anyone considering VOIP take a serious look at Phone Power

I did not sign up for their service yet, but I was impressed with their honesty. I've been having quality issues with ATandT for faxing so we are switching to VoIP. When I told the sales girl with Phone Power that it would be used for faxing, she immediately warned me that they do not completely support faxing at the time of my call. The hold time was not too bad, just a few minutes for sales. She spoke clear English, which was a huge relief, and the price she gave me was very competitive from what I've seen. I just wish they could guarantee their service for faxing

Excellent VOIP Provider
There have been a lot of reviews of PhonePower that are just rubbish, particularly from some idiot, (http://www.whichvoip.com/voip/user_reviews/phone_power_voip_review.htm, review date of Jan. 15, 2009), who wrote essentially a book on why he doesn't like PhonePower that is just nonsensical and full of inaccuracies (and to this moronic reviewer, no I don't work for PhonePower). Having previously had Verizon VoiceWing for over a year until receiving notice they were shutting down, I did extensive research on VOIP providers. What attracted me to PhonePower was the price ($200 for 2 years including a cloned line for unlimited minutes, well almost, 5000 outgoing, unlimited incoming), the ease of use on their web site, the fact that their customer service and tech support is U.S. based (yeah!!), the fact that in addition to having the ability to enter chats with their customer service and tech support that they will automatically email the chat text to you (indicating that they are not afraid to stand behind what they tell you in a chat) and the fact that they have a forum on DSLReports.com that solicits user input. I had been considering Broadvoice as my brother swears by them (and they appear to be a good company also), but PhonePower's price and ease of contact won me over. Plus, unless Broadvoice and other VOIP providers, PhonePower does not charge an activation fee (activations fees are total ripoffs).
As far as my experience with them goes, first they ported my number on the day I selected, always a good sign. Second, I had some issues with my Actiontec MI424WR (a real POS router in my opinion) and Verizon FIOS, which they were able to work around. The ATA PhonePower sent me used, the Grandstream HT502, is a better device than the Linksys PAP2 that I used with VoiceWing. I am able to access the HT502's web page to view status and can configure Basic Settings. The Advanced Settings tabs can not be accessed by users but that is understandable as VOIP novices could really screw things up. However, if you are knowledgeable (or even if you're not) in the ways of VOIP and SIP, you can BYOD with PhonePower just fine and configure away your device to your heart's content.
In terms of voice quality, its is as good or better than what my POTS line used to be and better than VoiceWing (I understand to some they may not be saying much but VoiceWing, while not great, was not that bad). I can't speak to the quality of other VOIP providers, but I know that the most important factors are you broadband speeds (up and down) and the quality of your ATA. Having FIOS I get outstanding rates and I can also adjust my QoS settings in my ActionTec (one thing it is good for), both which certainly contribute to the excellent quality I get. But in any event, PhonePower is doing nothing to stand in the way of my voice quality. In terms of features, their voice mail, both over the phone and on their web site is easy to use and I also receive emails of my voice mail. The cloned line is terrific. It means my wife and I can both be on the phone at the same time with having only one number (very convenient). Calls are properly routed, both incoming and outgoing. And their customer service and tech support and responsive and professional
In sum, I am very happy with PhonePower and you should not pay any attention to any review that slams them

Phonepower refund tactics

I tried Phonepower after reading other reviews and the deal with the cloned line for two years for only $200. That's a good deal, but with some problems. Returned device (make sure you return via a trackable shipper-UPS, Fedex, etc.) but I had to prove THEY received it... Then I had to call and DEMAND a refund (within my 30 day trial).... They're making me jump through hoops to get my refund and not a good feeling. I want to recommend the service, but their retun policy makes me think otherwise.
I've tried Vonage ($25/mo), Phonepower ($200/2 years) and now I'm with T-mobile-at-Home ($10/mo) since my cell provider is Tmobile. Tmobile has best customer service (Like wow, that's awesome.....thanks for using T-mobile....), their feature set isn't as good, no website configuration possible-yet. Must call in to change ring-settings, etc.
The quality on Tmobile At Home is as good as Vonage, better than Phonepower.
I can't recommend PhonePower after I went through the cancellation process. They were good up until you want to cancel, then they make you jump through hoops.... not fun.
I'd recommend T-mobile if you already have cell service with them, otherwise go with PhonePower if price matters, but quality will suffer
