31 August 2007

WASHINGTON -Internet telephone services provider Vonage Holdings Corp. spent about $752,000 in the first half of 2007 to lobby the federal government, according to a disclosure form.

The
company lobbied on the regulatory status of high-speed Internet
communications and matters pertaining to emergency 911 communications.

The
Holmdel, N.J.-based company helped pioneer so-called Voice over
Internet Protocol, or VoIP, technology, which enables phone service
through a high-speed Internet connection. It has nearly 2.5 million
subscribers, but lately has seen a drop in new customers.
