Most UK firms now use VOIP

16 January 2008

New research has revealed that more than half of all UK firms now use IP telephony.

Extreme
Networks and partner Data Integration polled 115 firms that employed
more than 500 people and found that 59 per cent run IP telephony on
their Lan, while only 32 per cent run IP video technologies.

The overwhelming majority of businesses were also satisfied with voice-over IP deployments, with 88 per cent happy with them. Despite
the smaller number of companies using IP video, 85 per cent of those
using the service said they were happy with their deployments.

John
Chambers, chief executive of Cisco showed the benefits of IP video
applications at this week's Consumer Electrics Show (CES) in Las Vegas
and recently signed a video conferencing deal with BT to support the IP
video needs of firms.
