SMSDiscount launched by Betamax - SMS for €0.01

Posted by RogerB in voipsmsdiscountsmsmobilebetamax

This week Betamax in Germany launched yet another online VoIP service, adding to the previous 13 or 14 services already available (Voipbuster,VoIPCheap etc) - SMSDiscount.com .

Whilst this is no longer a newsworthy event, this time Betamax have added a dirtcheap web based SMS service. Using SMSDiscount it is now possible to send SMS's to many destinations around the world (around 50-60 countries) for 0.01 Euro. This is cheap, very cheap in any language and will most certainly cause considerable headaches with mainly European mobile services, known for their very expensive SMS rates.

The drawback is obviously that you are bound to your PC to send these SMS's. If you send only the odd SMS here and there this is not for you. Should you be a heavy user, or have teenagers draining your phone accounts then this may be an alternative solution.

lg_prada_phone.jpgLG announced today that it will be adding Jajah, the VoIP software that claims to be more popular that Skype on its new Prada phone.

The software will allow users to make VoIP calls from their mobile phone via the company's just released Mobile Web application.

Using any WiFi or 3G connection users can now make cheap national and international calls.

According to Jajah their call rates are around 91% cheaper than Vodafone in the UK on a standard contract and 67% - 88% cheaper than other UK mobile providers.

"Jajah aims not only to be the smartest and the cheapest phone service around the globe, but also the most transparent. In a world where so many companies say 'service is free', customers deserve to know exactly what they are getting. It's part of brand to provide that kind of clarity to our customers, and it is one reason the Jajah global community is growing so quickly," Roman Scharf said.

Gizmo Launches Free Web-Based SMS

Posted by RogerB in textsmsphonemobilegizmofree

SIPphone, the makes of Gizmo project and Gizmo Call, announced today the launch of its free web based SMS service.

Located at www.gizmosms.com the service allows users to send SMS text messages from any web browser, for free. All you have to do is enter a mobile number, select the country of the number, type a message, and click send.

According to information on their site, their new service allows users to send messages to mobile phones in more than 65 countries on over 215 mobile networks.

Well, we tested it and sent SMS's to two mobile phones in South Africa, but it seems like South Africa is not part of the 65 countries and 215 networks.

After 30 minutes there was still no sign of an incomming SMS, but maybe the messages are still sitting in a waiting list ready to be sent.
