Switching to VoIP can be especially worthwhile if your company spends a lot on long-distance calls to far-flung employees, partners, and contacts. If you're already connected to some of these people via a local or wide area network (LAN/WAN), you might as well be making phone calls to them over the pipe that you're already paying for.

And, it looks like leading VoIP provider fring has managed to beat out the competition by launching the first ever VoIP application for the iPhone.

Dutch VoIP market grows to 2.37 mln, driven by UPC

The total Dutch consumer telephony market grew by 39,000 connections during the third quarter of 2007 to 5.69 million, driven by a growing number of Wholesale Line Rental (WLR) users and increased growth for cable VoIP, according to Telecompaper's quarterly update on the Dutch fixed telephony market. The number of WLR customers grew by 103,000 to 283,000 on 30 September 2007. The number of Dutch consumer VoIP subscriptions grew 7.9 percent to 2.37 million.

European VoIP market growth: the empire strikes back

Consumer VoIP subscriber growth continues to soar in Western Europe, reaching 21.7 million at mid-year 2007, up from 15.6 million only six months earlier. TeleGeography estimates that the ranks of European VoIP subscribers had grown to 28.9 million by year-end 2007.

Slow and Steady Goes The Netherland VoIP Market

TeleGeography is reporting that The Netherlands’ consumer fixed line telephony market grew by 2,000 connections in the second quarter of this year, bringing their total to 5.999 million. During the same time period, the total number of Dutch consumer VoIP subscriptions rose 7.1% to 2.2 million.
