Free Software Offers International Calls for Only AUD 3 Cents/Minute, Cheap Texts, and Free Instant Messages Mobile calls to and from Australia just got easier and cheaper.

EQO Communications (pronounced "echo") today announced the availability of its mobile Internet phone services in Australia. EQO works on popular phones and offers Australian customers of Telstra and Vodafone a savings of up to 95 per cent on international calls and up to 70 per cent on text messages. Additionally, EQO offers free instant messaging on MSN, Yahoo!, Google Talk, AIM and ICQ. To celebrate its launch in Australia, EQO is now offering every user a bonus of up to 100 minutes of free calling.

"Australians are known worldwide as early adopters and avid users of mobile technology," said Bill Tam, EQO's Chief Executive Officer. "EQO is one of the first mobile VoIP solutions of its kind to be made available across Australia. EQO is perfect for keeping in touch with friends, colleagues, and family overseas. And it fills a growing need for mobile chat among the youth market." Tim Williams, an early EQO user, says, "I've frequently used EQO from Australia to call contacts on mobiles throughout China and have been delighted with the quality and reliability of the service." The EQO downloadable software is easy to use and spares Australians from using calling cards, complicated dialing or callback scenarios; or from using their PC to make international calls. In addition, EQO users can call and text other online EQO users in 31 countries for free.*

EQO's sample calling rates from Australia:
-- Calls from Australia to New Zealand - AUD $0.03/min.
-- Costs as low as AUD $0.03/min. for calls to 30 countries including New Zealand, UK, Canada, US, Singapore, and Taiwan.

EQO works on most mobile handsets including popular models from Nokia, Sony Ericsson, Motorola, Samsung, and Blackberry; and on existing phone plans from Australian mobile operators including Telstra and Vodafone.

* EQO does not charge for calls and text messages between online EQO users, but mobile rates and plans may vary.
